| Well I'm sure this thread has been started a few times over, but I was just curious to know what's in your collections, what do you like to listen to in terms of live music? A favorite show from each artist? What are you most interested in right now? |

What I've been listening to lately:
VH - Civic Disobedience, 5-29-76; London, 6-1-78
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Winterland, 3-7-76
Hendrix - Box of Gypsies, disc 2; Randall's Island, 7-17-70
Boston - Cleveland, 9-27-76
Looks like I'm stuck in the 70's. :D |

| I don't really listen to a lot of VH anymore ... I mean there's really no activity at all within the group. So lately, I've been listening to various Crue 2005 shows, AC/DC, and Cheap Trick. Always good to throw some variety in there. But more than anything, I'm looking for Motley Crue 2005/6 audio for a compilation I'm going to make. |

Recent listenings include:
- Motley Crue Early stuff from '82-84
- Van Halen Greensboro '81 show & Rockline w/Ed & Al from '92
- Rush Grand Rapids, MI '96 & Landover, MD '84
- Def Leppard Seattle, WA '83
- Megadeth Detroit, MI '04
- Bon Jovi Auburn Hills, MI '05
I should pull out my Cheap Trick Budokan CD - One of the all time greatest live albums!

My collection is very wide and ecclectic rock, metal, indie, alternative, punk, glam & even a little prog.
Right now I am trying to convert some of my more obscure or hard to find bands tapes to DVD. Being British there are many bands I like that hardly ever appear on Stateside traders lists cos they mean sweet FA to most Americans. Bands like these are what I'm working on at the mo...
It Bites
Go West
Dan Reed Network
Bernie Torme
Saigon Kick
The Alarm
Big Country
Urban Dance Squad
etc etc. To be honest I am more inclined to trade with non Americans right now as I am more likely to find what I am looking for. It has got to the point now where I can look at a trade list by an unknown trader and I can always tell if they are American, cos they same bands always appear.... a massive Kiss list is always a giveaway, as is Phish or Dave Mathews Band.
Back on topic.... I do have a couple of VH projects in the pipeline too but they wont be ready for a while ;)

King's X
Rush (Thx again for the 9/27/84 show, mr_mojo_halen!)
Police
Iron Maiden |

My list is mostly VH, KISS, and Bon Jovi stuff with a bunch of other bands sprinkled in there like Black Crowes, Crue, Def Leppard, and Metallica to name a few.
Been grabbing alot of GNR audio from dime...some really good shows over there. Also been listening to a bunch of Aerosmith lately since I've been debating on whether to go see them or not next Wednesday night. I saw them in 88 and 90 and havent seen them since, was turned off by all the ballads they released. Cheap Trick is on this leg of the tour so I ended up picking up tickets yesterday.
Crossing my fingers hoping they dont cancel this show. |

Being new, I'm in awe at finally seeing performances by the bands I never had a chance to see in person. It's not the same but it is a solid consolation:
Led Zeppelin
UFO
AC/DC (w Bon Scott) |

I try to listen to artists that actually add something different to their live show. Improvising is usually always great with talented artists. That being said, Chris UK got me. I have a massive Kiss DVD list. A band who hardly ever improvises(Ace only). I guess it's an American thing growing up in the 70's. Kiss was a lot of guys gateway to rock & roll. It's more of a sentimental thing, but the shows from the 70's are great. Anway, I have a pretty eclectic group of artists I really like live besides Van Halen. Here's a taste:
Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers(same singer/songwriter)
Jeff Buckley(a lot of great improvisation)
Prince(You got to have some funk! His best live stuff is actually pre Purple Rain)
Bruce(If you've never seen him at one of his great tours before Born In The USA, it's kind of hard to relate)
Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave(If you are there, their live shows are more intense than anyone else I've seen)
Queens Of The Stone Age/Kyuss(You can't lose with Josh. The last Queens tour wasn't quite as good as their previous tours, but Josh has a unique guitar style that is always entertaining.)

Couldnt agree more with you Jstarr2000 on the improvising thing. It makes getting multiple boots from the same tour much more worthwhile.
I also can relate to what Unmiked said about getting to see bands you never saw live, this was my original inspiration to start getting video boots back in the early 80s. There are so many bands who have either splitup or just never tour in Europe, video boots are the only way of seeing what they are like. I just got a Bachman Turner Overdrive DVD, just to check em out.... I know 2 of their songs thats it, they've split up now and I never saw them back in the 70s 80s.... but they have turned out to be a great live band. Grand Funk Railroad was another case in question..... they mean diddly squat over here, but I had heard good things about them, so Randy hooked me up with a couple of discs and they blew me away.
