Hey all

What you all use and comments on why...etc
I am wondering which brand name is best for quality and longevity :D

Inquiring minds want to know :thumb:

I use Maxell or Fuji Film depending on specials on the 100 Disc spindles :)

Thx

Anything made in Japan. That used to be Fuji, then I went with TDK, but now I can't find any MiJ discs locally. Thus I order them from a place like this: http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-4x-dvd-r.html

Ritek/Ridata, great quality, nice dark purple dye, very few coasters. With the mail order costs and tax added, they cost me less than 30p per disc.

As you didnt put it as an option, I voted 'Others'.

supermedia store then TDK

I have used these too and they are great discs. They are supposed to be the best, although to be fair I cant tell them apart from Ritek's..... other than they are far more expensive.

BTW I steer clear of TDKs as my Sony DVD players sometimes have problems reading them and I get freezes or skips. The dye they use is not dark enough IMO.

The worst discs I have ever come across are, without a doubt, Princo...... utter shite!

I like SONY, FUJI, TDK, & MAXELL. I have had less problems with these names as opposed to
some of the no name brands I get at times that are JUNK and have a high rate of burning with an error.
But, at times I will get a bad Brand name burn, but that is not often.

I use PRINCO's

They're the best at keeping the birds off your vegetable patch, just hang 'em by a bit of string. The lack of dye makes both sides look the same... very cool.

For burning discs Ridata, but I got 2 spindles 'un-branded' so anyone who I've traded with in the last couple of months... the discs were good shit, honest :D

Hell YES !!!!!!!! LOVE Supermedia Store and TYs ROCK. I have rarely found MiJ media (which is ALL I use).

That's the truth!

One word of caution ... just because you don't get a coaster doesn't mean you are clear and fine. Extraction years later is the true test. Yes it is important not to get a coaster BUT it is also important to be able to get a clean extraction Years later. I know with CDRs, which is different but similar, some people have burnt on cheap media and had no issues but then months later tried to get a clean extraction and couldn't.

I use these : http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_item&id=2687&cata=1&s_cata=286

I've never had a problem with them. these have printable surfaces and I print labels for all my discs. They come out looking fantastic.

It took 5 years but i'm up to 500 posts!! been a long time at this joint.

TDK has worked for me. Sony is good also, except I had a few duds at the bottom

of a cd-r stack recently.

Maxdata, lately, if i can't get Ritek. No coasters so far, 400 + burns. The brand i've had most probs with- definetly Princo and Shintaro.
