| Sony, Fuji, and Maxell are pretty much my discs of choice. Can't say I've had many duds, or coasters with these brands. |

| I'm a Sony fan myself. I have never had any problems. I did just get 200 TDK DVD-R discs from my brother. Never used them but it does seem others here have. I hope to have good luck. |

| I use TDK, Imation & Verbatim. I have a Pioneer standalone and Sony and Memorex seem to give me problems. |

I'll never buy anything from sony after buying one of their playstation 2's. They made them inferior and knew they were going to break. Screw those bastards.
I always burn at 2x and have never had a problem. |

I came upon this thread in curiosity - I wanted to know what media people traded at this forum these days. The brands that have worked for me are:
Sony
Maxell
TDK
Taiyo Yuden
Any other brands, like HP or store brands have been disappointing. I even got a show on a Ritek that I had a hard time extracting from 2 years later! So, thus far, the above brands have withstood the test of time so far.
However, I wanted to get some feedback as to how long should I wait for to re-burn my library of shows? I know eventually all discs need to be replaced, but it would be nice to get an estimate as to when... |

I laughed when I read this cos whenever I get discs from Canadians 90% of the time they are those gold top Maxells! Can anyone tell me why, I'm fascinated to know, are they the only type of disc available there? or are they the best value. Any other county, I just get a mixture of makes, there is no pattern to it.

| Well i use to go to get Fuji and TDK Made In Japan here but once they stopped that i went to the Maxells as they were the only brand i could get here that were"Made In Japan" For me it's not so much the price as i find them very compatable for playback in set top DVD players. Maxell will run you about $30 - $35 CDN here. Other brands are maybe $5 less on 100 stack so it's not that much different. I can go to Costco here and get TDK printable for $20 for 100. I'll use them for my own personal use. The other thing is that in the last year my Pioneer burner would only burn the Maxell for some reason so i just went with it. As far as "Bad Burns" go that isn't a factor in what i buy, as i don't get much of that from my Pioeer burners. Hope that helps you out Chris :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: |

I have great results with Imation for some reason. Poor results with Fuji and Maxell (DVD players struggling with them).
