We all have our pet hates..... what are the bands/artists that seem so generally popular yet you just cant stand em or get into em???? Your chance to have a bitch and let off some steam......

For me.....

Motley Crue - 3rd rate VH/Sweet/Hanoi Rocks wannabes.... is it me or does Vince Neil sound like Bugs Bunny on helium! Why a talented musician like Steve Stevens ever ended up working with Neil is beyond me, good job EVH thought the same and told Steve so whilst they were on tour together.... he left when the tour finnished.

Guns and Roses - great band with some awesome songs, but Axl's voice sounds like nails running down a blackboard to me, either that or he's been constipated for a week and he's straining out a massive dump!.... oh yeah and he's an annoying egotistical twat!

The Grateful Dead - niddley noodley twinky twonky YAAAWWWWNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

Dream Theatre - see above.

....all of course are just my humble opinions :D

Chris.

 this could turn into band warfare :D

I think every band deserves credit... but for me, the only band I've never managed to get my head round is Kiss!
It's probably because I'm English... I know it's what most of the US grew up on, but my staple diet of rock came from Sabbath and Purple, so my first introduction to Kiss was like... 'are these guys serious?' and sadly I still feel the same way... sorry guys.

Nah thats not what I'm aiming for here..... the more bands in the world the merrier...... I'm only giving everyone a chance to state their opinion thats all....... there's no wrong or right........ I know I'm in the minority regarding my views of Crue and G n R.... its just healthy to air one views now and again in this politically correct world we live in.

BTW I dont understand why Kiss are so big either..... clever marketing?

I reckon we best keep this discussion to "bands"....I will have to give it some thought....dont have to think about it if solo artists are included....just check the billboard top 10....there are 10 I cant do....all the freaks ....good times with Britney & Paris...all the "American Idol" crap-ola....see...I told you we needed to keep this to just "bands"! :furious:

(by the way....I still have not seen the pix of Britney climbing out of the car! :D )

First off, I'd have to say U2... Biggest band in the world my ass. Grossly over rated.

Here's a couple of others that come to mind.

Deep Purple - I dont know why, but I can't get into these guys...

Iron Maiden and Judas Priest - I'm not a fan of that vocal style that these 2 bands seem to share.

Jimi Hendrix - well, I dont mind a few of his songs, but I dont think much of his guitar playing. Average at best.

Pearl Jam - I dont even know where to start with these guys... see U2

Queen - Their good stuff was awesome, but the rest was god awful. For every 2 good songs, there are 10 crap ones.

Soundgarden - One of the worst voices in RnR history... Musically, they were kind of cool though.

Nirvana - I actually love Nirvana, but they dont deserve the accolades that are thrown apon them.

Rap/ Urban/ Hip Hop - Untalented, un inspiring, un original, load of dog snot. All of it. Every single bit of it.

Kent, where do you want me to send them too you???

Youre not missing a great deal. Unfortunately, she still has that Aileen Wuornos look going on....

Now, if these pix were taken a few years ago.....

Wow...some surprises on the list. As for me a few right off are:

U2 - Not usre why they are considered so great, mediocre talent.

Foo Fighters - 5 hits and 150 bad tunes.

Pearl Jam - Boring

Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime - Brilliant, everything else poo poo. Geoff Tate's voice definitly is an aquired taste (I did like Chris Degarmo as a guitar player)

Creed: Worst band ever.....(between them and the grateful dead) I just don't get them at all.

With all that being said, all of the above bands have more muiscal talent then I could ever hope to have (except maybe creed) so this is just my humble opinion. I thought all people into rock n roll liked KISS, but your explanation Nick makes sense to me.

I'm not bitter with anyone here on the musical tastes, actually enjoy seeing some of the band names up here, especially when they are bands I really enjoy.

Peace.

Kiss meant about as much to the average Brit in the 70's, as Slade did to the average American in the 70's (Slade were massive in the UK and Europe 1972 - 75) Their first UK hit was that horrible disco song from Dynasty..... not the greatest introduction to 'the hottest band in the world'. You also have to remember that Kiss are very American in vibe and a lot of people over here really dislike Americans and their culture..... which incidentally is probably a contributing factor in VH's lack of sucess over here too.

The Dead doesn't do much for me as well as Neil Young, Phish and several others. I recently had a friend of mine tell me about Muse. She was all giddy with delight but when I checked them out I just didn't get it. I'm not saying that none of these artists are not talented, they just don't ring my bell.

Muse are definitely a 'love em or hate em' band..... I think they are awesome, but I can understand people not liking their very melodramatic music and falsetto Buckleyesque vocals.

Gotta give Matt his due though, he's one of the few modern Brit guitarists to dare to solo again... he even taps an mean classical arpeggio here and there!

U2- I think a good band with some good songs but GEEZUZ so freakin' overrated... The greatest band in the world? Says who? I think Boner should stop preaching his views on politics and go back to being a singer. HUGE EGO'S!!!!!!!!!!

The Darkness- I just don't get them? Are they really not trying to be Queen or trying to be original?

Creed- All I can say "THEY SUCK!"

Quote: Guns and Roses - great band with some awesome songs, but Axl's voice sounds like nails running down a blackboard to me, either that or he's been constipated for a week and he's straining out a massive dump!.... oh yeah and he's an annoying egotistical twat!

I have to agree 1000%... I could care less if they ever release that album everybody is been waiting for years.. The album is going to flop just like their tour a few years ago.

Pearl Jam- Great band when they 1st started and awesome band live... They become successful and their heads got so huge that they need diet shampoo to bring them back to normal.. Their ego's got too much as they released these crappy albums afterwards.

Quote: The Grateful Dead - niddley noodley twinky twonky YAAAWWWWNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

I agree!!

Coldplay- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING!!!! They put me to sleep everytime I hear them.

Spot on! The band isnt too bad for a U2/Radiohead tribute act, but its Chris 'I'm shagging a film star but I'm still miserable' Martin's whiney vocals that I cant stick.

I agree 100% with all that has been said about Gun - n - Roses....I can never get past Axle's vocals.

I think I would go see any concert ever created (country, jazz --which I love--, Rap --which I don't like --, classical, whatever), but you couldn't pay me to go see GnR.

I've never been a "speed metal" fan, but I would go to a concert to give it a try, but probably couldn't stay for the whole show.

Another icon I never cared for way Ingvie Malmstein (sorry for the spelling), I give him all the credit in the world for the speed at which he can play, but don't care for it.
My old roommate in college used to play me some live Alcatraz stuff, and it was ok, but when he and Bonnett would cover a Rainbow song, I got lost.

I'm not a Kid Rock fan either.
(edit: Yet love his duet with Sheryl Crow)

But it's all music. It's all great to someone.
Some folks may look at a Jackson Pollock painting and cringe or think it's something a child could do...to each their own!
