I just thought I would throw this out there. Regarding all of the recent changes

with tree requirements, wouldn't it make sense to have similiar requirements for

torrents - Member for 6 Months & 60 Posts ? I think it would help weed

out the 'Hit & Run' downloaders.

Guys i don't mean to piss anyone off but are we not getting a little carried away here?

Honestly I don't care if someone has been here for 5 minutes if there willing to seed a torrent. Most torrent sites have a ratio requirement. If they don't fulfull the requirement then they are kicked off. At least give people a chance.

As you can see i've been a member since 2001, I don't post a ton but I think these requirements are starting to be overkill.

I suppose as long as there was an upload/download ratio enforced then that would cover it....

Who is going to wait 6 months for torrents??? Most of the torrents will be dead by then. If you had to wait 6 months for torrents as of now, I doubt you would state that. You will have alot more people running from this site before they even hit. The share ratio is enough. It would make this site more unwelcoming to newbs.

true....but this is NOT a torrent site....its a trading site that just happens to have one....hence the name of the site " VHTRADING.COM ".... :D

Remember...this is first and foremost a trade site with a torrent component, not the other way around. Shows that are torrented can also be obtained via trade (in less than 6 months if the parties involved can agree on terms). There's lots of torrent sites out there and if somebody wants a show that bad, then either wait until it shows up elsewhere or negotiate a trade. I agree that a share ratio restriction can be a way to go, which would favor seeds initially. For example, if some newbie showed up with the (alleged) full Oakland '81 video looking to seed, would we make him wait 6 months to have access to the torrent site? Probably not.

As of right now you need a 0.50 ratio and have to have 30 total posts.. The only thing I'd think about is you have to be here 3 months... People may not like that but it's a trading site not a torrent site... We actually only had a few torrents so it's not a big thing here... There are 10X more VH torrents on Dime and thats a torrent site.

I don't like the idea of somebody just signing up to access the torrents, trees or artwork and never posts here.. They would have access to everything but like in the past when you were allowed to do that for the artwork section and then the artwork would show up on Ebay.

Guys, all very valid points and comparing the tree requirements to the Torrent Requirements is pointless. First off, The Tree Requiremnets are in place to avoid one time shoppers signing up....and never to be seen again and possibly screwing multiple members out of a DVD and creating a mess if they are branches etc etc. The trees are about contributing but also about not adding added workload to the person running the tree. These Requiremnets keep the trees running smoothly.

With the Torrents, new members need only get a few posts and be signed up for a short time and they are in and can start building there collection. There is no way for them or anyone else to screw anyone around. If they dont keep their ratio up...they are done. That simple.

Remember it's about sharing and not trying to turn people away. Everyone must help out and contribute.... being a leaf all the time wont cut it either anymore. Sharing is a two way street... help out and be a branch, be a leaf....but being a leaf all the time aint gonna happen anymore.
Finally, Yes we are a Trading site but that doesnt mean we cant torrent a ton of VH Related recordings...go for it. Just remember that sometimes certain shows will not be torrented as requested by sources/filmers etc etc.... but all will eventually be available for trade.

keep on voicing your opinions... the more input the better VHT will be...

This is the info on torrents here at VHT:

I'm happy to announce that the torrent tracker is finally out of "beta" and now open to the public. We now have torrent forums for both audio and video boots! If you wish to seed a show, take a look at the top of each forum; there is a sticky post describing how to upload a torrent. Feel free to start seeding shows and playing around to see how things work.

And now, as everybody has been wondering...Who gets to upload and download torrents?

To help combat any "hit and run" leechers, the following VH Trade Forums members have full access to the torrent tracker and torrent forums to seed and leech torrents:

Those who have created a minimum of 30 posts on the forums. Anyone who has previously made 29 posts and then creates a 30th post will automatically be given access. This is to ensure that torrent traders are interested (at least somewhat) in being part of the community. Moderators and myself will keep an eye on forum members who create multiples "junk" posts just to pad your post count, and reserve the right to delete these posts as we see fit. A "junk" post can include, for example, frivilous content such as "sounds cool!", "wow!", "me, too!", or any other short sentence or phrase that adds little or nothing to the conversation.

Those who maintain a upload/download ratio of at least 0.50. This applies to you if you have downloaded at least 1 gigabyte of data. Anyone who falls below this ratio will be unable to download any data until the ratio is brought back up. In most cases, you can simply leave your internet connection open for a day or two while you seed for the ratio to improve.

The are many ways of keeping an eye on your ratio, the easiest of which is to look under the "information center" on the VH Trade Forums home page.
