it's one of my all time fav Yngwie albums
Its OK, I havent heard it in years to be fair as I only have it on vinyl and my deck is knackered..... I saw him on that tour with JLT and it was one of the most boring gigs I've ever attended. Yngwie just overplayed the whole night and ruined the songs..... I think that put me off the record..... I kind of drifted away from the 80s shred stuff after that and got into more song orientated bands. I saw JLT with Glen Hughes a couple of years ago at a small local club, that was an awesome night great mix of tunes.

Gilbert and Bouillet were unbelievable in Racer X, they just tore your face off with those solos. Their cassettes had a permanent place in my tape player in the late 80's.
Don't mean to threadjack, but does anyone have a good CD or DVD (or both) of a Racer X concert? I don't have a lot to offer, but I'd love to do a 2:1, or whatever you'd need to make it happen. My list is at tapetrader, just search under Revo11. |

I just got a Hughes/Turner DVD from Milan Italy 2003.
Keep that in the back of your mind until next time. |

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover...... 1st time I heard this was on a free flexi disc that came with Guitar Player mag in the mid 80s. I'd never heard Eric before and was completley blown away. The version on this disc is not the same as the CD version from 1990, its live from the Austin City Limits TV show. IMO its 10 times better than the studio version. After years of searching I finnaly found it on video.... awesome stuff!.... hairs up on the back of your neck time!

| Steve Vai's Passion And Warfare is a great album and Steve Stevens work on Vince Niel's exposed is also a great piece of work. And I still say that Extreme's He Man Woman Hater is one of the best songs of the era. |

This is a tough one to nail down. Here are a few favorites...that come to mind at present.
Still Of The Night-Whitesnake, John Sykes.
Mr. Scary - Dokken, George Lynch.
Snortin' Whiskey - Pat Travers Band, Pat Travers.
Bring it on home - Led Zepplin, I believe it is some new guy named Jimmy Page. |
