These master tapes were acquired from legendary manager and record producer, Herbie Herbert, and are original and authentic.

| Do they come with the machine to play them back on? I smell a hoax here. I find it hard to believe that the actual master tapes are for sale on Ebay instead of through an actual "traditional" auction. That stuff is usually in a vault somewhere. Of course the buyer doesn't know what he's getting until he puts the tape on. It could be Loverboy Unplugged. |

This guy has never had a neutral or negative feedback yet. I find it hard to believe he would suddenly try to rip someone off with this.

| I think they might be the real thing but you need a player that I assume is reel to reel recording and if you don't have a player or know somebody who does they are useless...Ory |

Why don't we email the seller and see if he can provide a date and venue, or if he could contact someone who could?

Usually multi track masters are done on 1" wide tape. The reel to reel machines most of us are familiar with only accommodate 1/4" tape so a 1" tape would be too wide for the tape guides and playback heads. The other issue with tapes 20+ years old is how well they were cared for. If not kept in ideal storage locations (free of humidity and dust) the tape will crumble or shred the first time it rolls through a tape machine after all that time. The radio station I work for has tons of pre-FM masters from the Chicago Blues and Jazz festivals from the 80s that have been sitting unused for a long time. There's a lot of stuff I'd love to get my hands on but until the tapes can be "baked" to allow them to safely pass through a reel to reel machine and survive a copying process to CD or other digital media, it's all wishful thinking.
These tapes that the seller is offering may be the real deal but unless you have the technology to listen (and who has a 1" tape machine lying around the house these days), they're worthless to the average fan. |
