Have the The Uncomps ("The Van Halen Unreleased Compilation" cassette tapes) ever been converted and re-released on CD media? If not, has there ever been any discussions to do so? There's some pretty cool stuff on those cassette tapes.

I'm sure that someone has converted the entire set to CD-R (for their own personal preservation), but I don't know of anybody who's been trading it around digitally. It would make a great project if anyone were willing to do it for the trading community. :)

I can convert from cassette to cd, but do not know how to change things (like mix, etc). I don't have those so just how many cassettes are there?

From what I can tell, the following cassettes comprise the Uncomps set:

1) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume 1: Demos / Originals 1976-1985

2) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume II: Originals / Covers 1976-1984

3) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume III: Covers 1976-1984

4) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume IV: Originals / Covers 1985-1993

5) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume V: Demos / Originals / Covers 1977-1986 & The Wild Life Soundtrack 1984

6) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume VI: Originals / Covers 1984-1995

7) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume VII: Alternate Studio Mixes & EVH Studio Sessions

8) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume VIII: Instrumentals 1980-1995 & Alternate Mixes 1986-1996

9) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume IX: Originals / Demos 1976-1984 & Covers 1988-1995

10) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume X: EVH Studio Sessions / Live Jams 1982-1992

11) Van Halen Unreleased, Volume XI: Los Tres Gusanos 1991-1995

12) David Lee Roth Unreleased, Volume I: Originals / Alternate Mixes 1986-1994

13) Sammy Hagar Rare And Unreleased, Volume I: Originals / Alternate Mixes / Covers 1979-1995

14) Sammy Hagar Rare And Unreleased, Volume II: Montrose / HSAS / Studio Sessions 1974-1994

Lots of cool stuff there. Be sure to check out this Trade Forum Web Page for all the track listings as well as more info. It's a shame to think that this set of material isn't being circulated.

When they get converted this would make a great Tree as Im sure everybody on this site would want to have this.
This would be one hell of a tree. Can it even be done with the amount of cdrs that would be involved....

Just a note: if anyone happens to track these down, I'm willing and able convert them to CDR now - would take some time though :D - and do a lil' remastering job with Cool Audio Pro...

It would be best if the source tapes would be as low generation as possible. I don't see a point to do a tree & circulate bad quality copies. But it seems to me like these gems aren't too widely copied ;)

I found one site that listed 9 of these tapes...and got a response from that trader too. He stated that the tapes are for VHML members only, he won't be trading them. Some of us are soooo possessive about things.

Nice.

I have a few things to say about this subject:

1. First, the VHML is basically no more. If anybody tells you guys any different they're a lying sack of shit. :furious:

2. The VHML once had a decent amount of trading activity going on in the mid-1990's (back when there was mostly good will among members). Once the VH Trade list was formed, 99% of that activity moved over there. So since around 1998, the VHML has not been a trading "entity" on the net.

3. Skyscraper, do us a favor and give the name of the dickhead who refused to trade with you. The compilation was meant to be shared, not hoarded. :furious: :furious:

The history of VHML makes me wonder why we just can't get along... :(

As much as I would like to see that scumbags' ass kicked, I won't post his email address here. It's waste of time to try to change a person like that.

But if we team up, we might be able to win this auction to him!! :thumb:
