I am trying to kick off my audio collection with the best quality shows from each tour. (I have NO idea which ones they are!?!?) Anyone willing to help, I can trade some Def Leppard shows, Police shows, or B & P's. Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated !

Hi, Hopper here. PM me and I'll get you a list. I have an excellent sounding couple of shows. I'd recommend 6-17-78 Budokan Theater, Tokyo, Japan, The Us Festival 5-29-83, and Quebec 4-21-84 to name a few. All of these are great shows. I'm sure other traders will have other suggestions for you. When you get my list, as a newbie, pick out a couple of shows, and they're yours for free. Someday you'll help out the new guy. Talk to you soon my friend, and welcome.

For Classic Van Halen I like the 1978 UK shows, excellent sounding. Fresno 1979 is also excellent, I'm not really thrilled with many 1980 or 1981 shows but to be honest 1981 is kindda lacking in my collection, there are some excellent 1982 South American shows and the US Fest in 1983 is a must. As already mentioned April 21, 1984 is a good choice or the Detroit 1984 shows (the Mojo upgrdaes, those were a nice surprise).

If you get into Van Hagar I really like Alpine Valley 1993 and 1995 but I might be bias, I was at those shows.

When Gary was in the band there are some nice Japan 1998 recordings.

In 2004 there are a couple really nice ones, I like Steecoe's Indiana, November 11 (I think) but there are also a couple other really nice ones.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions, and kind offers!! I will definately look for these shows as the foundation of what I hope to be an AMAZING VH collection. I recently re-discovered VH after about a 15 year break, however I have definately burnt out the studio stuff. Some good live shows should keep me going ........................
