Here is another one of the 1978 shows posted up on Dime....if you read down the thread....this comes from the same lot of recordings as most others....where the dad and son got into a fight and dad kept the tapes....then this guy ends up with them 25 years later....he even posted on this thread that he wants to re-record them...that his rip is not as good for some reason....maybe one of you audio experts should contact him?.....there is also a great theory posted about how they think these shows were recorded....here is link and info:

Well looking at the lineage, he has gone via mini-disc so that will have degraded the transfer a bit. So it may well be worth a new transfer. Reading his comments a Dime he is pissed off that they have ended up as pressed silvers.

Chris.

I traded with Jamhead64 (guy from Seattle) to get these a few years back. He had been talking about doing better transfers but I doubt it will happen, he was pretty upset about the Silver disks.

Anyways I think 6/10/78 is the one that needed a new transfer most. Most that have it have reported some digi-noise on YRGM & the guitar solo. That is also the only one that hasn't been torrented and put to Silver.

Are you saying the original torrents that were up at JTT.com were in need of a new transfer or the ones that were pressed to silvers?

This sounds like what happened with, "Just Before the Eruption". The original CDs sounded amazing and then the silvers were edited, over compressed and ruined.

Yeah the original transfer were Minidisk so it was hoped that he would do some new transfers with better equipment.

The SILVERs just pissed him off because the Jap boot companies were making money off the shared torrents that were supposed to be for free..for the fans.

Gotcha. I wish there was a way to get the word out to the people buying these CDs that they can get them for free. It's amazing to me how the community has opened up in the past several years. It used to be like pulling teeth to get someone to share low-gen, high quality copies of shows, so I just always went to the bootleggers to get better copies of the shows I didn't have. I know there are still a handful of shows yet to be circulated, but for the most part, the people with the best stuff seem to be letting it out and I think that is awesome. It's sparked my interest to start trading again.
