l'll give them credit - at least they recognized it was a mistake (or at least bad publicity) and fixed it the next day.

That was major disrespectful. I think VH is trying to re-write history. A few years ago it was like Dave never joined the band, he wasn't spoken of that much by Eddie, he was avoided. Now Dave is the main focus, and Sammy, Gary, and Michael are being erased from their history. It's sad.

how old are you?

does it really matter? who cares if sammy is in the band? who cares if gary cut a disc with them? mike made his bed and chose not to be there and be with sam. PERIOD!

christ sakes folks...let it go....

go to the show when it comes to town...

you'll see that wolf kicks ass....and then you can shut up! do you honestly think for one minute ed, alex or even david would get up on stage with a kid that sucked and make a fool of not only the name vh but of themselves? Hell david has played with everybody and he says wolf kicks ass.

I think that in itself says this tour is GOING TO BLOW YOUR FACE OFF!!

if you miss it..then you are a fool!

I saw david and VH back in 1981, 1982, and 1984....I have waited for this day for over 20 years and could give two shits if mike is in the band or not. Mikey sucks. Hell everyone knows eddie did alot of the bass parts....mike was a pawn. I love how everyone says "oh mike isnt in the band...I'm not going" GOOD! dont fucking go! stay home! wait for sammy to come and go to that show! pussed out wantabe. When you think VH do you really think gary or sammy? oh wait let me strike up when love comes walking in...oh that was the best vh song ever...shit let me hit my radio with a 10lb sledge hammer....

now go put on fair warning....crank it up....and buy a ticket to the tour!

And then wait for the new cd coming out next year!!!!!!!!!

I think it matters. I think Sammy, Gary, and Michael were a huge part of VH's history. Sammy was longer in the band then dave. I like Dave better, but I can't brush Hagar's accomplishments aside. Mike did not choose to be there. He would have if he could. He was not invited. Anthony would choose VH over Sammy in a heartbeat.

I am going to the show, it'll be a sacrifice but well worth it.

Hell david has played with everybody and he says wolf kicks ass.

Would Dave say that Wolfie sucked on bass?

And then wait for the new cd coming out next year!!!!!!!!!

Let's get through the tour first, anything could happen. Not one date has been played yet.

Thank you, i agree wholehearted. But I will point out that the point of this thread was that they took the cover of Van Halen 1 and replaced Mike with wolfie on the website. They have since recified their little lapse in judgement but I don't think that VH history should be changed. I agree though. This tour isn't about the past. It's the first step to a new future of Van Halen. Don't be so quick to judge.

Rollingstone Magazine

Did Van Halen Remove Michael Anthony From Album Art on Their Web Site?

Over the past twenty-four hours, Van Halen fans have been mulling over the latest development in the band’s reunion saga: A poster on a music-industry message board pointed out that in the wake of the band’s tour announcement, the Van Halens seemed to have airbrushed original bassist Michael Anthony out of older album covers on their official Web site and replaced him with their newest member: Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang. The swap was evident on the lower right of the cover of the band’s self-titled debut (which came out thirteen years before Wolfgang was born), and the group shot for Women and Children First had been removed entirely.

A visit to the tour section of Van Halen’s site today reveals that the album covers in question have been replaced with the original artwork. However, another message board commenter pointed out there were no images of David Lee Roth in 2004’s career-spanning The Best of Both Worlds, as the frontman and Eddie Van Halen were on the outs during that time. (The pair made a point of embracing at Monday’s reunion tour press conference to demonstrate all is well). As of now, the band hasn’t issued any statements regarding the artwork incident.

anyway, Mikey is part of the VH history. it's part of the past.

he played in 2004 completely as a separate member in vh.

And, if we are honest, we can probably say that last song probably recorded by Mike in the 5150 studio was in 95/96.

At the same point is wolfie. The new record will be recorded be ed (guitars, keys and bass), and then, wolfie will play live.

It's not the technical capability that matters here, because everybody of us know that MICHAEL ANTHONY is a cool and professional bass player.
It's a matter of Ed's choice.

We won't see any Jack Daniels crazy bass solo, and this is sad...

for the respect we have for this band, we'll miss mike.

on the other hand, we are curioius to hear the new bass player...

robert trujillo of Metallica is not a bad bass player ...

let's see, and hear WOLFGANG VAN HALEN

the son of the GREATEST GUITARPLAYER ON THE PLANET

From Melodic Rock

VAN HALEN FIX WEBSITE WHITEWASH:
Well done Van Halen for replacing the images of Michael Anthony to the album covers of Van Halen and Women And Children First on their official website. The removal of these images with the site re-launch yesterday was highly questionable and I know there is issues between the VH Brothers and Anthony, but at least the band have made the right decision here, calming tensions from fans of the classic line-up, which after all, made this band what it is.

Michael Anthony is a foundering member, regardless of what anybody says:right place right time,he did'nt contribute, did'nt write songs, along for the ride.Well guess what, he and the other three original members ARE CLaSSIC VAN HALEN.I wish wolfie the best,I'm sure he will blend in. Michael Anthony was a part of the first six lp's,I've seen Van Halen in 79-80-81,82,84,86,88,91,95,98,dosent matter matter what age you are if the music is great,it's still great.Looking foward to the new tour, hoprfully it will rise to everybody's expections-especially for David Lee Roth fans, because we all know the reason we love this band and it's for Edward Van Halen-plain and simple ;)

I agree with Scoobie.

I have seen Van Halen 14 times. They were the first band that I ever saw in concert back in 1977 when they were the opening for Journey. I will certainly miss Mike, and I think he was a HUGE part of VH. He had the background pipes, and gave the best bass solo that I have ever seen "Long Live the JD bass." :thumb:

I will pass judgement on Wolfie after I hear him play, but one there is one thing that I think most will agree with...Wolfie wouldn't even be playing in VH if he weren't Eds son. I certainly don't think they went out and hired Wolfie based on his great bass playing skills.

I think this is a case of Ed trying to help his son get started in the Rock/Music business, not that Wolfie is neccessarily the best bass player out there.
