Hey All

I myself would of wanted to see just VH on stage from 7:30 till done playing all songs from the Van halen I to 1984... They have enough material to cover the whole night so thats my point of view....

My question to you is Since there has to be an opening act who would you say would be best to open for VH???

Do you guys agree with that Reggae act they chose???

Aside from Hagar and Mikey ;)

Van Halen usually has had opening acts that weren't very memorable or stood the test of time. There have been exceptions of course, Alice in Chains being the most notable. I don't think it's a good match but at least Marley will add some variety. I just hope he doesn't get booed off the stage. Maybe he will help Van Halen perform Push Comes to Shove (Yeah right). :D

i think it's a fair opening act!

also Kenny Wayne Shephard is good ( as I saw him exactly 9 years ago, in Holmdel NJ) :thumb:

I enjoyed BTO in 1986 and the Scorps and Dokken in 1988.

In 81 they had The Fools open up for them???? What ever happened to that sucky band!

In 84 they had Autograph open up for them but they were a Rock A Billy band and got booed off the stage after 2 songs.

VH usually has crappy bands open up for them because they are probably afraid the opening band will blow them away.

Unless I don't understand what a Rock A Billy band is, Autograph wasn't one. Steven Lynch was a pretty good guitar player, and Autograph was a hair band. "Turn Up The Radio" was their big hit.

evhusa, I love the suggestion of Kenny Wayne Shepard, but hate Nickelback.

Having said that, it's difficult to imagine a worse choice for an opening band than reggae. God, I hate reggae.

That reminds me of when I went to see a pretty wash up Black Sabbath, way back, they were blown away by the support band :D

Generally in the UK most support bands are unknown to a degree or have a different style to the main act.
I've done my fair share supporting bands in the 1x1x1 format... 1 light, 1 plug and 1 sq. foot to stand in :(

Actually, The Velcros were the rock-a-billy band. Autograph was more of a 80's metal/rock act.

Silvertide was pretty cool in 2004, I thought live they sucked, but I heard some their studio material they're pretty damn good.

When I saw them in '84 they introduced the opening band as Autograph which was a Rock A Billy band... Either way they didn't even get a chance to finish their 2nd song.
