I thought I had read somewhere that camera's WILL be allowed at the concerts but only camera's with fixed lenses. Camera's with detachable lenses will not be allowed. For life of me, I cannot find the website that had this information but thought it was relevent and should let people know.
I will continue looking for the site but if anybody else knows anything, please speak up!

Deffinately pass the info on to us when you find it. Wouldn't it also be up to the venue management as well????? Wonder how they feel about tripods?

I hope that's correct! It is interesting that previously on the website for Bobcats Arena (charlottebobcatsarena.com), there was a specific mention of "no cameras or recording equipment allowed", but I don't see that on there now. It could just be that since the show is sold out they feel they don't need to post it anymore

I would assume they are talking about still picture cameras being allowed and not video cameras.

I never have a problem taking my digital camera in any shows anymore. As long as you dont have a professional lens they usually dont hassle you. I cant say that applies for everywhere but most places I have seen shows let you take those in.

The original Van Halen FAQ at ILoveAllAccess said:

7. Are cameras allowed?
Van Halen allows non-professional still cameras, with no detachable lens, that fits in your pocket or purse. No video cameras are allowed.

But several days later, it was changed:

7. Are cameras allowed?
No, cameras are not allowed on this tour.

You found it Ron, that is where I read it! I knew I wasn't crazy. Sux that they changed it to no camera's allowed, so does that mean that no cell phones will be allowed inside the arena as well? This will probably be one of the most photographed tours anyways so I am sure there will be plenty of pictures floating around.

I always find that it depends on the venue regardless of what the tour says. It may be printed on the tickets - "No Cameras..etc.." however these policies are different for just about every show and sporting event so it usually depends on the venue and the entrance you walk in through. Try to find the slower ticket taker/security guard to enter through. Should not be a problem to get in with a camera.

I look at it this way:

They can't catch everyone who has a camera in the arena.

Every concert I ever attended or worked, it was always the same thing: as soon as the lights go down, and the band hits the stage, flashes start going off in every corner of the arena.

When they hit San Diego, I'm going to have professionally shot photos sent to me anyways, so I know I'm hooked up in that department.

I actually bought a pair of binoculars with a built in camera, it's very discrete.

I knew someone that had those when I lived in San Diego. They're very nice!
