Hey folks.

Just got back and they were AWESOME!!!!! Unbelievable show..... It was like they just steamrolled the audience with one great song after another; I knew what was coming and they still wore me out.

Except for one glitch (Eddie's guitar went out during SGMAD) the show was perfect. For all the naysayers, Eddie was even better than the youtube clips that have been posted. No sloppiness at all. I was slightly worried to start b/c he came out with a cig in the guitar and I thought he might have hit the bottle beforehand, but it was the only one he had all night. He didn't have time to smoke or drink b/c the songs came fast and furious.....

I know people keep wishing for different songs and no solos, but I thought they were all in the right place. Even Little Dreamer was a welcome chance to catch my breath.

If anything, I think that Dave and Ed are both taking the safe approach and concentrating on being consistently excellent. Dave was awesome all night. He had a couple of classic moments for the fans: "Look at all the people here tonight" which we've seen; the surprise was "don't stick your tounge out at me unless you intend to use it". Anyway, from my perspective, it was just the right amount (barely any) of schtick, and the rest was heavy duty rockin'.

Highlights from the show would have to be outstanding versions of Hot For Teacher and Unchained. Ice Cream Man was also the best version I've seen in any of the new clips. Eddie played the solo much better; in fact, it sounded like the early 80's again, except for the wah during the strummed E7 part. ATBL was also phenomenal, which is saying something b/c they've never dropped it from their set list. For me, easily the best show I've ever seen in the past 25 years.

Guitar changes also came fast and furious. For those that need to know, Ed used the Frankie replica on two songs (Little Guitars & Jump). He also used assorted Charvels including a very interesting "bumble bee" yellow with black stripes version I'd never seen before. He did use the sunburst most of the night, except for the 2nd half of SGMAD, when he had a blue version of the Fender with a big number 4 between the pickups like Pete Townshend used to do with the Who.

One quick note about Mohegan Sun: what a great place to see a show. Smaller venue - not a bad seat in the house! I was 15 rows from the front of the s-walk thingy - dead center stage. Sound and mix was just about perfect all night.

Finally, it has to be said. I brought my wife with me and she's a harmony singer. Wolfgang and Eddie's harmonies were spot on great. She commented to me how good they sounded together. Wolfie hit all the high notes. He was also much more animated, dancing, jumping (a little) and moving all around. The folks gave him one of the biggest cheers of the night when he turned around and raised both hands in the air as the rest of band was going off. If you skip this show b/c Mike is not there, then I feel sorry for you. He was not missed at all - seriously. In fact, when we got to the car my wife commented on how cool it was that Wolfie got to play with his father and uncle and be a cool kid for 16. She added that it really seemed like a great family affair because everything was so good. I don't know if I could say it any better myself.

Good night.

Bill

Hopefully somebody taped this one... there was concern beforehand that it might not get taped, but I would think that SOMEBODY had to be taping. Just makes you nervous, because the previous shows came out so quickly -- like the night of the actual concert.

Ditto.

That was a great review, Bill, sounds like it was a blast to be there. Nice to hear that the sound was good... at times in Greensboro, the sound got a little muddled, but they always seemed to be able to fix it.

Word is, and it's reliable, that both Philly shows were recorded and should be making their way into the mainstream within a week or so!

Beautiful news! Thanks! :thumb: Now, did anyone tape last night's show? I'm not in a hurry. I'm just curious if it will be available at some point. Anyone manage to record it?
