Thank you Shawn. I couldn't agree with you more...

I have also noticed the dispictable trashing of Wolfie on other sites...

I agree. Wolfie has his shot, his chance to demonstrate onstage his talent.

lets see, and then, make a comment about his performance.

saying unkind things it seems a little unfair.

I am positive :-)

Someone, will be probably surprised. He will do a good job!

Agreed.... But I'm sure if he wasn't any good or didn't add something to this "Reunion" (cough) tour... he wouldn't be in the band.

Obviously this is a case of 'It ain't what you know, it's who you know'.

Would Wolfie have this gig if he wasn't Ed's son and had to audition for it like any other bass player? Maybe, maybe not.
The real question is, if Ed had no kids, would Mike still be in the band?

I'm still thinking not. According to that exerpt of Sammy's leaked book, Mike was almost replaced on every album. If Mike and Wolfie were complete strangers to Ed and they both auditioned for Van Halen I don't think either of them would get the gig. Wolfie wouldn't because he lacks experience and Mike wouldn't because he's your standard run of the mill bass player.

'Almost' being the key word there. How can the guy be on the verge of getting canned for 25+ years? Makes me wonder what Ed was thinkin all that time. Either he wasn't serious about replacing Mike or figured he's just as good as any other bass player so why not just keep him.

Let's say, hypothetically, that Billy Sheehan suddenly joined Van Halen. He's arguably the best rock and roll bassist around. Is he going to sit around and be satisfied with letting Ed write all the songs? Probably not. Ed might not want to risk letting someone else write songs because he's always had a vision. With someone like Mike you don't have to worry about that. I'm not saying that's how it is. No one really knows what was going on then and even less so now.

None of us have heard anything yet, it will all change once we hear this new band for the first few times, we will either love it or be critical as hell. I personally think at thier worst, Ill be happy top hear something from them after all this time.
They had 6 lps out in 7 years! I am hungry for something new after all this time. Wolfie, Mike, the family pet, whoever..

Me too. I'm getting tired of the two or three songs at a time thing.

Didn't they have a dog on one track?

Eddie's dog Sherman was on the end of Baluchitherium (I think this was the song).
