Has there been any news coverage of this show anywhere? I haven't seen any reviews which seems odd.

I was there. We had great seats. It was my 1st 07 reunion show. I wasnt as impressed as I thought I'd be. David Lee Roth's voice was what I'd expected (before I read all of the reviews) After reading all of the reviews of other shows, I was expecting Roth to be in perfect shape...and maybe he was other shows, but in fresno he was just average. He messed up a few lines (completely forgot the words to a verse in Beautiful Girls - then even announced it saying 'I forgot the words') then he talked til the chorus. He sounded alot like he was winded, he would be singing then just stop (leave out a few words) then continue on with the song. Hot For Teacher was the worst I thought. It sounded nothing like it does on record.
But other than that, the show was awesome! The energy was non stop! no lag time between songs. just non stop song after song, each one rocking as hard as the next. My highlights were 'Everybody Want Some', 'I'll Wait', & 'Runnin with The Devil'
I know it sounds like the begining of my review is alot of complaining, but its not really. I just had high hopes, and i let my expectations of Roth get too high. He has a limited voice. If I wouldnt have read so many great reviews I wouldve been more impressed. It has been my dream for 23 years to see VH with Roth (since I was in 5th grade and bought 1984) Im glad I finally got to. But in all reality Sammy has a better voice (but Sammy doesnt have as many non-stop rock songs with the energy Roth brought)

Have you ever heard any boots of Dave era VH?? Dave sounds much better on this tour then he has in a looooong time. The songs aren't going to sound like the album, they're live..
I agree that Dave has lost some upper range, but overall, he's doing an amazing job singing songs that VH hasn't played in 23+ years.

I agree with both of you.

If a person hasn't heard any boots or hear older boots they have no basis for comparison, and that could be a good thing; it's objective. I think too many people may be just happy to see them that they don't care how good or bad Dave is. If a person is used to a certain level of performance and don't get it, should they be happy if that performer is doing better than a previous tour?

That's kind of how I'm viewing Eddie right now. Yeah, he's way better than 04, but he's not up to par yet. Nowhere near 95 or 98. And that effects how I view the shows, maybe even more critical. Dunno.

Good review though!

Oh, and Dave never really does Hot For Teacher anyway; so that doesn't really count. :D
