From MelodicRock.com

VAN HALEN SAY NO TO ROLLING STONE!:
While Van Halen ramp things up for a busy 2008, fans will be interested to learn that the band are still reluctant to do any interviews and just turned down Rolling Stone magazine for a full feature cover story!

OK why? The tour's rolling along but not a word from the band pretty much since the press conference so why not give the fans a little more info on how it's going and what to expect next. Dave will talk to anybody, anytime so why not let him loose? He's not saying much onstage so between that and the lack of interviews, its really unusual. Ed & Al must have something big here to keep Dave this quiet for this long.

Let the music do the talking....lol...couldnt resist.

As long as it keeps them on the road, i could care less if they do press.

and after that a New CD.....and again i dont care if they do press.

sometimes no PR is good PR.

the fact the tour is still going, and they have announced a 2nd leg is all the PR they need.

Maybe Ed's still bitter from when they ranked him the 73rd best guitarist, about 50 positions too low. What a joke. Screw that Rag. Van Halen certainly doesn't need Rolling Stone burying their nose into things.

I was thinking the same thing. At first I thought it was a dumb move, but the more I thought about it, it really doesn't matter. The tour is selling well with no press. And the less Ed says, the better. It's not like you will get a straight answer from Dave anyway.

I think everyone is living in the present moment.

Any interview would focus on the past (M.A., Sammy, the 96 reunion).

Why bother?

Exactly. They don't wanna answer the hard questions; you know there would be a bunch of shit they always dodge.

I stopped reading Rolling Stone back in the late '70s...and I'm pretty sure I have missed much in the last 30 years.

Yeah Rolling Stone is a weird magazine anyway... they use so many pages to pat themselves on the back that there's hardly any room for anything else. I just received my THIRD 40th anniversay issue this year. It's the THIRD issue this year where they blather on and on about how "important" they were/are...

Also, you're assuming an article would be good PR, but I can definitely see it going the other way. RS could just try to dig up dirt and stir things up and slam them for any number of goofy reasons. They're probably better off just rockin' it live.

I do wish Dave had more between song banter tho!

It's funny this came out because I was just about to post about how RS has not said a word about the tour.

Besides, IMO RS sucks. I has a subscription for years. now this is a matter of preference (I realize that), but when Kurt Cobain sucked the wrong end of a shotgun, he got the ENTIRE issue dedicated to him. When Jerry Garcia dies, he got a few pages. Now I'm not saying who is a better musician or who had more influence, I just figure the level of Jerry deserved more in comparison than a whole issue for Kurt.

As faw as the boys sniffing RS, GOOD FOR THEM. Exactly as stated. The tour is going, more dates planned. Enough said (or not said).

Not completely true, I've got several clippings from recent issues about the tour...

More like 72 positions too low...

Fuck Rolling Stone... It's without a doubt, the worst so called music mag ever.

I would expect any media at all. The press will only focus on the dirt and all the fighting over the years and will only lead to trouble.

They're back together and they're playing music (and hopefully working on some new music). Lets just be happy with that. :thumb:
