A CRC is a little mathematical equation that checks data as it's being written by doing a comparison between the source and destination. When you receive a CRC error, it means the block of data that particular CRC represents is corrupted.

Unfortunately, that doesn't really tell you why it's corrupted. It could be anything from a finger print on the disk to a bad burn/bad disk.

Based on what you've described, I'm inclined to think you received a disk with a bad burn, probably due to that 16x burn speed.

Well an update on this trade.
I did my best to be "civil" with this trader and explain my problem.I also cut-n-pasted some of the comments from the more "advanced Burning" members that posted on this subject.
He burned me another copy at 8X (which he said was the lowest he could go).
I received it and NO ERRORS! :thumb:
I let him know about it, and he said from now on he'd use that 12X speed when burning/trading DVDs. :)
The exchange was getting heated, but cool thoughts prevailed and with help from you guys, I got my DVD and the other guy learned a lesson in trading/burning and keeping your fellow trader happy!
