Former VAN HALEN/EXTREME singer Gary Cherone will perform at Malden High School's Talent Fest 2007, which celebrates the Malden, Massachusetts school's 150th birthday. The show will be held on October 5, 2007 at Malden High School's historical Jenkins Auditorium, 77 Salem Street, downtown Malden and will feature well-known Malden High graduates and will include other "name" musicians who are known locally, nationally and even internationally.

According to a posting on the City of Malden web site, Gary Cherone (Class of 1979) "is the successful former lead singer for international rock band and A&M recording artists EXTREME, whose timeless pop hit "More Than Words", which hit the Billboard charts at #1 in 1991, still continues to be a radio favorite. Highlights also include his critically acclaimed performance at Wembley Stadium in England for a Freddie Mercury/QUEEN tribute show in 1992. Also a veteran of the Boston Rock Opera cast for several years, Gary had the versatility to portray the roles of both Jesus and Judas in various productions of "Jesus Christ Superstar". He also nabbed the lead singer slot with VAN HALEN in the late '90s, and recorded the CD titled "Van Halen 3" and toured with the rock legends. Gary's other projects include TRIBE OF JUDAH and SLIPKID (a tribute to THE WHO). Gary recently teamed up with his brother Markus to form HURTSMILE."

I don't suppose there's any footage around of him in Jesus Christ Superstar is there? It would be interesting to see him in either roll (although in my opinion Judas had the better songs)
