| Anybody go to this show? Would love to hear how it went. It being the last show of 2007, it was probably pretty wild. And in Vegas no less. Any of you lucky devils in the area get to go? |

Rumor had it that he was drunk at the first Vegas show, which while it may have been true, it certainly didn't show on stage. Great show on the 28th! |

Hey Ron, here is a review from somebody who was the show on the 30th
wolfsbane writes
I was at the Vegas show on 12/30/07.
I have too many commnets about this show.
The overall sound sucked.
First, Ed sucked. I have only seen him before at Monsters of Rock at Alpine Valley in Wis. and this performance was horrible. He appeared drunk at the begining, and only sobered up a little. His solo sucked. He couldn't do eruption or any of the tapping that he normally does. His strumming and picking were so off that the nothing sounded good.
Al, was the only solid performer on stage. But he looks very old. He needs a little grooming.
Wolfgang. He is a house. I mean a duplex. He is the size of Leslie West. His playing sucks. He has no rhythm. He also seemed uninterested in anything that was going on. It seems that the novelty of playing with DLR has worn off. Since he is the reason that DLR is there, I guess it is his band; next, tour with Sammy Hagar.
MA is sorely missed. He played much better than Wolfgang. He was excited about what was happening onstage, He made the whole thing solid and energetic. Now, it is up to Al only to carry this.
Now, the big complaint. Roth. The voice was strong, he sang all the lyrics. His stage presence and demeanor was that of someone who is a puppet. It is obvious that he is no longer in charge of himself. His vigilant eye, direction, and control for the stageshow is gone. He gestures and walks like a gay man now.
I have seen Roth 5 times from 87-1998 - this was a big disappointment.
The interplay between Roth and EVH was good, but how much can there be when ED is drunk off his ass?
I fear that after the breakup of this VH, Roth is no longer going to be the musician that made albums like EEAS or DLR band. He is done with heavy rock. He is not even the DLR that was in VH before. His head is in a place that no longer feels the streets or the brutality of the lower or middle class.
Why is the stage shaped like and S? ( Is it for Sammy?) Why did ED have 5150 written in marker on his back? ( Is it for Sammy?) I guess I am reading into things too much.
I am done with DLR for now. I will still listen to the entire DLR catalog minus YFLM. I thought he would continue on as before.

| Yes, the 3 shows I went to were great, with Montreal being the best. There were a couple of mistakes very noticeable to me by Edward, but I have listened to Halen since 1978 and notice mistakes immediately. Would I boycot the tour because of them, nah, I have waited to long for this. I believe Ed just hasn't played enough recently and he just needs more time to hit the level he was at back in the 80s |

actually Scoobie, every tour is a cash grab..it's a business. To think anything different would be in your case Stupid.
also, comparing MA to a 16 year old kid is also....stupid.
anyone that bashes a 16 year old kid is a real class act.
finally, some people live in the now and some still want it to be 30 years ago....i'll take whatever Edward can give on any given night...good or bad.
and yes ill take a good ole shit sandwich with mustard any day of the week if thats all thats available. |

| That was all right. He didn't play like he did in 04 when he was totally blasted. He seemed fine to me there. |

| The more reviews I read the more I think it is not booze but illness. When I went to see them, his hands looked like they were 100 years old. Also may tell why all the hush hush ? |
