|
|
DEAR BUDDIES, :)
Probably, sammy doesn't accept the fact that Edward is still on stage, this time with Dave, Al, and Wolfie.
Saying that "Edward is crazy", is just the good way ( to him) to discriminate this VH TOUR.
Now pay attention to this:
I think many of us will go see sammy in the next weeks. I will go, it is a chance to see Sammy playing live, with also Mikey and other good players.
When I'll go to see Sammy, I'll go to see Sammy + Mikey, period: they can play every VH song they want, but I WON'T CONSIDER THEM AS A MISSING PIECE OF VAN HALEN.
Victor Johnson, to me is a decent guitar player: but when I'll see him it will be like to see every single guy on the planet who plays good, who plays some cover songs: like you out there.
Right now, dreams , poundcake??? the music will be ok, but far away from Edward's playing.
I don't pretend from Sammy to hear the groove coming from Edward: it's nonsense.
and nobody can make me feel so excited to hear the music coming from Edward Van Halen guitar.
Victor can play all the songs, the solos, everything, but it has nothing to do with EVH. that's a difference, a considerable difference.
sammy knows that, sammy knows that Ed is unique, but he's suffering seeing him on stage, playing with Dave again.
and what about wolfie??? Is he so bad?????
Is he really UNCAPABLE to play????????
Is he really so unable to sing on chorus??????????????? let me know.
Unfortunately, Mike is not in, but for those who went to the first two shows, can you really say that
the music of the actual van halen is worst than the music of van halen with mikey?
I looked to the videos, closed my eyes, and well, I could not hear such a strong difference...on the bass lines...
Sammy is surprised...and in this case I would say that " there's a fire in his ass"...understood...understood...you know..you feel unconfortable when the most important guitarplayer on the planet is playing, and he is stilll kicking ass on stage more than ever...
And to put a remedy on this situation, sammy argues that DAVE CANNOT SING his songs...understood...understood...
I used to think that...but wait a minute:
considering where VAN HALEN WAS IN 1984....and going back to 1978...
all I have to say that VAN HALEN, from 78 to 84, was completely different from the VAN HAGAR
now, in 2007, VAN HALEN, is going on, or at least is trying to go on, playing live, again with dave, giving continuity of what suddenly stopped in 1984...
but Sammy, think about it, cannot deny that VAN HALEN from 78-84, HAS SIMPLY NOTHING TO DEAL WITH HIM. :D
I don't want to listen to "right now" from Dave, to me doesn't make any sense. :yell:
in this situation, if the actual VAN HALEN will go on, sammy, will be put into a closet, musically speaking, because VAN HALEN with Ed Dave Al and Wolfie
will put out NEW MUSIC, GIVING CONTINUITY TO 1984. :thumb:
that's why sammy keeps saying that he's having fun with his band...he says he's playing everything he likes, and the VH FANS will listen to all the VAN HAGAR SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the respect I have for sammy, I'll go in Akron ! But I am not going to expect to SEE OR HEAR VAN HALEN MUSIC IN IT'S ORIGINAL WAY. NO WAY.
...WHY???
Because, Eddie cannot be replicated, even if you put steve vai playing with sammy, it doesn't make any sense. TO ME.
The man who gives sense to this band, like it or not, is Edward Van Halen.
Now, Ed, Dave and Al are 3/4 of the original band, and you can distinguish basically a band from his lead singer and from his guitarist.
If you look back, and see how Edward Van Halen's way of playing has influenced and is still influencing the WORLD OF MUSIC AND THE WORLD OF GUITAR PLAYING, well, it is possible to say that if we see Edward on stage, we are going to see a living legend of the 6 strings. I we love the music and the solos coming from this man and from his hands and from his guitars!
I wish happyness to everyone, sammy, dave, al , ed , wolfie, mikey, and gary
but , SEEING SAMMY + MIKE means to me: sammy plus mike :thumb: WHICH IS GOOD :thumb:
seeing Edward, Al , Dave, and wolfie, means to me VAN HALEN. WHICH IS AWESOME  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:
and after seeing sammy and the wabos :thumb:
and I'll go to see VAN HALEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :thumb:       |

Keep in mind that Sammy is not all about "Sour Grapes" here.....I am sure that he gets the same questions all day long....reporters trying to make a story where there is no story. Lets see how many reporters want to do the story on Hall of Fame induction attendance and participation. As you say....'Sammy may "have a problem" with Dave and Ed touring'....but I htink his bigger problem with these guys has been their selfish and childish manners towards the fans. You never know about things....with all the crap he has had to deal with....Sammy may just be glad those two guys are back together again....just so he (Sam) can watch the train-wreck.

I find it very hard to believe that Sammy is upset in any way, shape, or form regarding this tour. If he's upset about anything, and he has a right to be, it's the fact that Mike was very publicly excluded from the entire "reunion".
Read and and all interviews with Sam from the last year or so...he's been the one to state that Ed should get back with Dave, because "the fans deserve it". I haven't seen anything to indicate any type of animosity or "sour grapes" on his part. |

what Vince said!
Every interview I've read has pretty much pointed out that Sam thinks the Dave thing is a good thing; the only negative is how they did Mike; and I agree. |

dear guys, I don't want to create problems: I want to express my point of view, but I don't want you to have me...
when I say "Hagar has a problem", I refer to the fact when he says "Edward was crazy, especially in the 2004 tour" (the 2dorks interview, is very clear about this)
Now Edward, anyway, seems to be sober, and he's playing good, with dave. And saying that the Van Hagar fans won't hear any van hagar song to the shows, is just a
picky way to underline that the fans, even with Roth, will miss half of the Van Halen music.
Press wants to keep up the discussion...there's no doubt. But Sammy, even if mike is out, cannot deny that this tour will be an event per se.
Van Halen before Hagar, and nobody can deny this fact, WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN the sammy era.
All I said, in the end is that Hagar, cannot stand the fact that Ed and Dave are touring together, not for the fans (he's ok with them), but because Dave couldn't play any note of sammy song...
The first era fans, were waiting for this for so many years...and this is finally happening.
But I also think, that The first era fans, may not be so interested on listening "finish what ya started" or "right now"...
what I'm trying to say, is that David Lee Roth , doesn't need to sing a single sammy song, in order to be considered a real frontman.
David Lee Roth, represented an Icon, that cannot be compared to sammy, for many reasons.
Dave is the first VH lead singer, with 6 top selling albums.
Sammy, Saying today that Edward was crazy and mad , and drunk in 2004, doesn't want to accept that Edward may have changed his mind...
I like sammy playing in Van Halen. This time, by the way, there's a chance to see the official first lead singer, with Edward.
As I said, I'm not expecting Dave singing "poundcake"...that would be nonsense. I expect from Dave to be Dave, and listen live to the entire 6 records that made VAN HALEN unique worldwide.
As I expect to listen to Sammy songs coming from Sammy. In this second case, I'm not going to expect to hear VAN HALEN, because sam and mikey, are not van halen.
the VAN HALEN press conference was pretty clear about statements. This is a new band, and probably, with Wolfie, Ed and Dave will find the inspiration
for making new music.
Take a look at the music, and the intensity of the first 2 shows of this tour...and tell me what you realy think.
If the band will do a new record, you would have to consider that this will be a record in continuity of the last record, 1984, with dave, skipping every hagar concept record.
The sammy era, won't be part of the new record. Dave has nothing to deal with sammy, as sammy has nothing to deal with dave, and with Van Halen .
I wish VAN HALEN, and sammy hagar, good luck.
I really wish to see a new VAN HALEN RECORD, with DAVE on vocals.
thanks for reading this! |

| I'd like to see them finish this tour first. If they're still talking afterwards, then new music would be great. |

VH with Sammy was great :D
VH with DLR is awesome :thumb:
At last Ed finally being sober realized what his fans truly wanted...... Also as Wolfgang chose the setlist well that could just say also that Wolfie also knew what the people wanted....
Anyways I dont see DLR sing Hagar and vice versa.....
HELL WE WANTED SOME AND WE GOT SOME |

Well, as a longtime Hagar era fan, I listened to Steecoe's recording of opening night, and I'll tell you this:
I didn't miss not hearing one song from the Hagar era. At all.
I could do without "Little Dreamer". I'd rather hear "The Full Bug", "Light Up The Sky", or "Secrets". |
