|
|
Living in Dallas Tx the closest Van Halen came on this tour was Kansas City. And from hearing the show on audio and realizing what a horrific vocal performance that was, I'm glad I didn't go.
However, for those of us who may not get a chance to see this tour live....what would be the best overall video boot to watch on my 146 inch projector screen and super sorround? Everybody is invited to watch the show...I'll even supply the booze. |

Well, it looks like I may be able to answer my very own question.
From all the many samples I have seen so far of Van Halen performing live on stage this year....it seems to me that by far the best footage, up to this point, is captured in the wide screen DVD release of the Rosemont IL show of October 16th.
The good news is that this show on audio is absolutely amazing, and has the overall vibe of the band being completely tight and full of energy. What a truly incredible treat to have this performance captured on audio as well as in wide screen video.. here is a sample of what you will see

I think they all are proshot
-there are cameramen filming the show, for the big-screen in th back, i think you can actually see their silhouettes in one of the dvd's that are out now! There has to be a monitor where all the video, goes through before it reaches the screen, and idk if they have to record it, or it just plays through, but there is a great chance this tour will have proshots, if not all of the shows are filmed from what i said before!!!
idk if thats true , but my 2 cents :D |

November isn't going fast enough ;)
2007-09-27 - Charlotte, NC - Bobcat Arena - 2 X HD sources - Silver Stallion/BTB 2-cam mix prod coming in NOV 07
HD, and can I assume it's synced to Steecoe's audio? It'll be a sick dvd for sure. |

I'm almost done (90%) fixing up the Greensboro angle that I shot (cropping and a few other treatments) and JimL just finished doing the same to the Charlotte angle that I shot. We're shipping them off to the other filmer this weekend and he'll be mixing them with his angles and sending them back to Jim and me for authoring.
It's taken a lot longer than I planned...but I had to go to the middle east on business for a few weeks and my younger bro just visited for nine days...so I just haven't had much time to work on this until now.
But they should be done on schedule - sometime by the end of November.
