Just a quickie to say hello and introduce myself.
Listening to the first VH album (waaaaay back when) was a revelation for me. I have been a huge fan of the band ever since.
Well, not so much after Dave left. More on that some other time.
Although I kept up with what little news and music was officially released after Sammy left,
I was never much into boots. Oh, I knew they existed. In fact I am pretty sure I have some Elton John bootleg vinyl records up in my attic. But I never searched out any information online about boot trading, even though I have been net-savvy since the halcyon days of BBS and IRC chat. The light bulb just never went on (nothing new there ;) ). With no new music and no news of any official nature I kind of just let my VH boil fade down to a low simmer. Silly me, I would actually check the “official” VH website occasionally for info. Yeah, right. And then…
I’m sure I was not alone in the horrible feeling I got in my gut when I first saw those Eddie “Crypt-keeper” photos surface. I basically figured he was not going to be long for this mortal coil. I was crushed. I started looking for VH information every few weeks, mostly just to see how Eddie was doing physically. Although I still was not awake enough to search around for alternate sources of good info I did manage to see the abysmal R’n’R HoF induction… and then: the announcement!
A tour! And not only a tour, but a tour with Dave. How unlikely! Yet it was true. Granted, Mikey was axed (no pun intended), but still…
NOW I started getting excited. The first dates were announced in NC, a few hours from where I currently reside. I (finally) started running some intelligent web searches and hit the jackpot: Web-sites devoted to VH. Tour info, rehearsal pix, Even reviews of the rehearsals. Eddie was not only alive, but looked great. Rehab really did seem to help him. Even my beloved wife started getting excited. Wha?!? How did I not know she was a CVH fan?
To make a long story even longer, we went to the Greensboro show. It was magical. To have gone from seeing Eddie half-dead, to seeing the band onstage on September 29, 2007 was something else. There really was some amazing energy involved. For that show everyone, and I mean everyone, was on their feet the entire show. It was awesome.
Finding VHTrading.com has also been like a dream come true for me. The amount of material out there on our favorite band is incredible.
Best of all I seem to have found a vibrant, friendly, knowledgeable and-dare I say it-loving group of friends that are united in their passion for the band and good music in general.
I am grateful for you all. Thanks for letting me in. I’ll be here for a while.
Oh yeah, and I finally figured out torrents :thumb:
Cheers,
David |

| Welcome Dave, glad you are here. I feel the same way about this site. The people are great and this is the place for information pertaining to Van Halen. I've only been here a year and have found shows that I didn't even know existed. Here's to celebrating all things VH. |
