From Melodic Rock
Van Halen are the hot rumor to be the headline act for . If true, that places the band in Europe for the first time in a long long time and you could expect further dates are being booked around an appearance at Sweden Rock. Stay tuned... |

Van Halen and JUDAS PRIEST are among the bands who are rumored to be playing next year's Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 4-7, 2008 in in Sölvesborg, Sweden. It should be noted, however, that neither of these acts has been officially confirmed for the event and their possible participation in the festival should be treated as nothing more than speculation.
The organizers of the Sweden Rock Festival will announce the first 20-25 bands confirmed for next year's event during the kick-off party on November 24 at Tyrol in Stockholm. The party will be broadcast live on the Stockholm radio station 106.7 Rockklassiker beginning at 7:00 p.m. local time and will be available for streaming worldwide via www.rockklassiker.se.
This year's Sweden Rock Festival kick-off celebration will feature performances by GOTTHARD, SABATON and HAZY/DIZZY. In addition, a one-off all-star band has also been put together featuring:
Uli Jon Roth (SCORPIONS, ELECTRIC SUN) - Guitar
Mark Boals (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, RING OF FIRE) - Vocals
Mats Levén (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, AT VANCE, THERION) - Vocals
Liz Vandall (SAHARA, Uli JON ROTH) - Vocals
Janne Stark (OVERDRIVE, BALTIMOORE) - Guitar
Ule Ritgen (ZENO, ELECTRIC SUN, FAIR WARNING) - Bass
Thomas Broman (ELECTRIC BOYS, JOHN NORUM, 21 GUNS) - Drums
The group will perform vintage SCORPIONS and ELECTRIC SUN material, along with other "nice surprises."

I'm a regular visitor at the Sweden Rock Festival and I'm going to the kick-off on saturday.
Bon Jovi is also a band rumoured to be one of the three headliners.
However, only one will be announced on saturday. I hope it's VH. :) |

This is potentially exciting in terms of world recognition for the band, but on the other hand I'd rather see them working on a new album by then...
( I know, easy for me to say, I've SEEN them on this tour). |

That's for sure. Let's give the fan's outside the US their share. Last time they did Holland was 1995, so it's about time............
We've been waiting for a new album since 1998, so let's do Europe and the rest and than do a new album.
Waiting another year won't hurt. |

The manager of MOJO who does the booking for Arrow Classic Rock Festival
stated in an interview that Van Halen was there main band to perform at the festival, however Van Halen turned the offer down.
The manager said: "We don't know what bands will perform at the festival yet, i do know that Van Halen won't be one of them."
In another article from a dutch newspaper its stated Van Halen won't be doing the european summer festivals. most likely they will do the clubcircuit in europe. |
