I was wondering how people trade audio, now that cassette is almost non-existent. I have noticed not alot of traders don't bother to deal with FLAC, but trading (X) gen CD-R isn't good for the trading pool. People might trade MP3's over the internet, which is fine, as long as they take the obvious precautions. I personally trade FLAC only, unless it's a rare CDR. Anyway, just wondering what your thoughts were.

Edit: Can't change SHN, APE in title, but shouldn't affect poll...

I always try to trade in a lossless format, but I still do cd-r trades with people
who are comfortable with flac, shn, etc.

I'm still pretty new to all this but everything I've received so far is in FLAC so that's all I have to trade (except for one Queen CD-R I traded via mail for).

Question: is 320 kbps MP3 considered lossless?

I always trade CD-R, even when I download lossless formats. I still convert it to audio cds. So I can listen to them in my car. Flacs are great, they just take up too much space, especially when you have alot of them on your hard drive.

I don't 'trade' audio with people, I just download shows I'd want to list to, convert to mp3 to take up less space on my computer.

I trade in FLAC & WAV. I like FLAC because you can put several shows on a dvd

& convert them to WAV easily. 2 years ago, I didn't know what the flac FLAC was.

No ducks involved I'm told.:D

Even though I do very little audio trading anymore, what I do is is cdr. I have yet to figure out how to do the flac thing (lol)

MP3 is Lossy regardless of the encoding. 320kbps is lossy and should not be traded.

P.S. Whatever possible I do FLAC / SHN / APE and try to remain lossless but when necessary I do Audio CDRs. I try to verify that the other person is using EAC but sometimes it does not matter if what they are sending me is not going to go on my trade list anyways.
