| I'm really not 100% sure. I know the year was 1984 (I was 14) and my friend brought over VH 1 and played Atomic Punk for me. I decided then to get all the albums but I'm not really sure which one I got first. I think it might have been Diver Down. |

| 1984 was the first one I bought with my own money but the first one can I recall being in my house was Van Halen I, that and Diver Down. Fair Warning became my favorite quickly. |

| It must have been 1982. I was in junior high and one of my friends talked me in to joining the Columbia Record Club. It's where you could get 10 records or cassettes for 1 cent and then buy 10 more over the next couple of years. I wasn't sure what to get. He recommended Journey, several REO Speedwagon albums and Van Halen's Diver Down. Luckily they were sold out of the REO albums but I did get Diver Down. The guitar playing on Hang em High and Little Guitars blew me away. The free coupons they sent me for the REO albums they were sold out of were quickly used to get VH1, II, WACF and Fair Warning. What a blessing it was that they were sold out of REO Speedwagon... |

I remeber hearing Eruption/YRGM on the radio one day... Then, later that night they played Running with the Devil and the DJ made a big deal about this new band from Los Angeles who had this guitar player who had this new and unusual sound.
I rushed out and bought VH I with my paper route money within a few days. I believe the cost was only like 4 bucks or so....
I have been hooked ever since. |

If i remember correctly it was WACF. :)
I had listened to Vh beforehand and gone to a few of their shows, but never really got that interested in them. Then i bought WACF, was basically hooked LOL. went back and bought VH1 & 2, and then all the albums until OU812. |

My friend played me "Eruption" during band practice over 28 years ago...? and it totally blew me away.
I bought myself both VH 1 & VH II on vinyl the very next day.

My first VH was 1984. I was 15 years old and was blown away. I saw them live in concert a month later....just unbelievable. Of course it was General Admission...and I fought my way close to the front, near the barricade.
The opening band was some local cover band...and that is what they played...covers. They were quickly booed off the stage. People were throwing bottles and firecrackers at them. It was hilarious. What promoter books a local cover band to open for the mighty Van Halen?
Ahhh...to be young again. |
