I hope 5150 is ok....the vault underwater...? Oh the agony... :yell: :yell: |

River Wide at Van Halen's House
Posted Dec 10th 2007 9:39AM by TMZ Staff
A water main broke in an L.A. suburb early this morning, sending thousands of gallons of water through the yard of a home believed to belong to music legend Eddie Van Halen. Look out below!
The gushing water snarled traffic this morning in the area around Coldwater Canyon. L.A. Fire officials said the only home affected was Van Halen's, who is currently out of town on tour.
An LAFD battalion chief said firefighters placed sandbags around the home, trying to prevent water from entering the house itself, but mud and debris filled the pool.
Story developing ...

| Ed's studio is a separate structure from his house. I think it's far enough away that he takes a golf cart to get to it. So here's hoping it's on a hill and not in a valley. |

Update...
http://laist.com/2007/12/10/coldwater_cyn_f.php
The flooding did impact the house of rock star Eddie Van Halen. His home sustained some property damage on the exterior. A block wall, front gate, and swimming pool were affected by the mud and debris. Firefighters at the scene under the command of Battalion Chief Pete Benesch, however, did an outstanding job with sand bag operations and this prevented any damage to the house itself. |

So no worries everyone! Oakland '81 is still safely locked away where it will never see the light of day. |

OMG Vhrob! I spit out my water reading your comment!! That's awesome!! I'm picturing Wolfie w/the bass on his back, the wetvac hose in one hand, the mop in the other trying to suck water out of the house.
"Quick Wolfie my boy, get to 5150 and get out me best guitars including all my EBMM (Ernie Ball Music Man). Save them from the rushing water. Sterling Ball and I hate each other and they don't make the original EMBB anymore! Leave dad's wedding pics to your mom, not important. Quick me boy, make haste!!" Well, Ed ain't British, but it's still funny.

From melodic rock today
EDDIE AVOIDS THE FLOOD:
"Rock guitarist Eddie Van Halen's Hollywood Hills home narrowly escaped serious damage on Monday, after a broken water main sent mud and debris gushing across his yard, the Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site. Van Halen's swimming pool disappeared under the deluge, and potted plants and trees were also demolished, his girlfriend Janie Liszewski told the paper. But the house was saved after firefighters fortified it with sandbags, she said.
The couple were not at home when the destruction started shortly after midnight on Monday. They were in the Canadian city of Edmonton for a reunion concert the night before by Van Halen's eponymous band.
They returned on Monday to survey the damage, which was caused by a broken air valve on a water main, the paper said. It sent torrents of water through the streets of the bucolic Coldwater Canyon neighborhood, but Van Halen's property was the only one affected by the flood." |
