Well, not really a review, but....
They frickin' rocked.

I thought they were all pretty darn tight, and I thought the guitar solo was almost flawless (although I'm not a guitar player)
I thought Cathedral was concise and just about perfect.
I did not notice any sling or wrist band, either, but it may have been there?

the mix might have been little off, but this ain't steely dan!

Great show and a great time.

But I do have a question. This is my first show on this tour, and I understand the backing vocals are supposed to be pre-recorded. It looked to me like Ed and Wolf were singing all the backing vocals. or were they just lip-synching them?
I realize if you weren't there you can't answer, but I kinda thought the backing vocals were live.

Oh ya, Wolfgang and Eddie both used the "Drill" a little bit during a pause...they noodled around with it for about 30 seconds or so, and it was like a spot light feature in the performance.

Wolfgang also had a little 30 second solo as well (perhaps an extended intro to "so this is love"?--I can't remember)

I don't really have a single complaint, other than not having the time to have a beer with Randy before the show, but it was nice to meet him after the show.

I'd like an answer to this as well. The first time I saw a boot from this tour I thought they were pre-recorded. After seeing them live twice I'm not sure. They almost sound too perfect to be live but Wolfie and Eddie always seem to be in front of a mic when it comes time for the background vocals. Anyone know if they are pre-recorded?

Likewise bro!! It was great meeting you after the show.

Fucking Tampa traffic...bumper-2-bumper and stop and go for twenty miles heading in the direction of Orlando...and then the same thing once I got into Orlando. I'm lucky I made it there in time for VH. The upside is that by the time I got there, the scalpers were getting antsy about holding unsold tickets and I got one for $20.

After reading recent reviews about how bad the sound was - even in seating areas where it should be really good - I thought it would totally suck up in the cheap seats where I was sitting. But to the contrary, it sounded good where I was at...so I assume it sounded great in many places.

I literally did not hear a bad note from Ed all night. There were a couple of half-missed notes, but he was on fire from the git go. I thought (once again based on recent reviews) that he would come back after Al's solo and sound shitty. But that wasn't the case at all.

There were four or five things during the show that made me think ~ I haven't seen or heard that before - cool! But I'll be damned if I can still remember them well... One I do remember was Dave telling Ed to get the drill and do the drill-on-guitar thing. It was obvious that Ed wasn't planning on doing it at the time. During the "That suit is you!" routine, they showed the VH security guy dancing with a couple of hot babes. Maybe that's at every show now. But I thought it was only the show that happened on the security guy's birthday (12/18 I think).

All-in-all, extremely tight performance.

The only time I thought things dragged a bit was during Dave's "Ice Cream Man" story. It seemed to go on a little too long. One (rather hot) blond sitting a few seats down from me even said something like, "C'mon Dave, get to the song already for crying out loud!"

I haven't been over to VHLinks yet to read reviews, so I'll be curious to see if my review jives with how others saw it.

Randy

as for the backing vocals, they prolly have canned vocals as well as actually singing them live, not anything new, they have done this before....

Yup. They sound near perfect every show but once in awhile you can hear a mistake. The "Little Guitars" from 10/20 in Detroit has some of those mistakes.

Yeah, at the Oakland show there was a point where it was just Wolfie singing back-up as Ed fiddled with a foot pedal or something. Wolfie kinda nudged Pops as if to say, 'Hey, get yur mouth up on the mic'. When Ed did start singing again I heard a slight difference but at that moment I had a feeling they were piping in the background vocals....Dave sounded really good though...even if his shit eating grin was a caked on.
If you haven't seen Dave with Ed before, you gotta check out the show though. Too many good tunes they're playing.

Does anyone think they will produce new material after this?
