Ulead is a great program butit often freezes up on you
I use Womble for editing, syncing, etc.
I use Tsnunami for authoring the footage.
Womble / Tsnunami is my advice |

| I use ULead....my advice would be to save often, as it tends to wipe out progress by freezing, or if you back up in the process things are sometimes lost. Otherwise it's good for newbies, has decent features and is easy to learn. |

| You should also try Sony DVD Architect. The only bad thing is that it likes to re-encode audio under certain situations. But that's when TMPGenc DVD Author comes in handy because it doesn't do that. |

I agree with Randy and Sony DVD Architect is an incredibel program and used it for years.. I authored ever single DVD with that program but the drawback is it does re-encode the audio to 192kb and if the original is 384kb it's being re-encoded to 192kb. It's still a great program!

I agree with Dirq! The very 1st software I used was Ulead but I got tired of it freezing up and losing everything you worked on.
I have Womble now and it's great!!!
I have played with Tsnunami and seems like a very good program but I'm having too many computer problems and computer crashes (not because of these programs) and once I get a new computer I will use Tsnunami. |

When I started authoring DVD's I've been using Ulead, but it freezed many times leading me to not using it anymore...
I've been using Nero Vision for a while, actually I use TMPG...
I have some other programmes (DVD-Architect, DVD-lab, etc...) but I never used those... |

Is there any decent authoring software for Windows Vista???
Are any of these software Womble, Tsnunami, DVD-Architect, Vegas Video, or TMPEGENC for Vista?
I'm planning on getting a new computer but everything being sold has Vista on it and I have most of these software above on XP but wondering if I can use any of these with Vista.
I'm also thinking of just having computer built and using my XP key from one of my dead computers but the hassle finding somebody to put it all together.
I hate Vista but I can live with it and it could be so easier if I buy a new computer with everything on it but the the hassle dealing and searching for software.
I want to get back and start authoring again but need a new authoring machine.. Any suggestions so I can get Oryo Production back in action again?? Ory |

Vegas Pro says it works with Vista: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/products/product.asp?PID=457&PageID=108
As for XP machines, they are still available, Dell still sells machines with XP loaded on them: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/winxp_inspndt |

Thanks for the info Ron! :thumb:
You had me thinking and I checked Newegg and found a sh!t load of Desktops with XP on them really cheap.. So I might buy a decent machine there and add more RAM, 2nd hardrive, better videocard, and maybe a 2nd DVDR burner and still have a dream machine for under $1000 after I add all the upgrades.

Has anybody bought a computer at Newegg before? |

He did but I thought it was for computer parts and not an actual whole computer.. I spent over 2 hours last night looking through all the XP computers newegg had and now gonna go to PC Club to see how much it would cost me to get a nice XP computer if they will build it..Ory |
