| Heard a few songs from their new album being played at a local record store and I kind of dug them. Wondering what some of your opinions are. |

If you like a little twang in your rock, they are one of the best bands out there. Their live shows are real raucous affairs. A lot harder than what you would expect from listening to their albums. They lost one key member(Jason Isbell) before this last album came out. "A Blessing & A Curse" or "The Dirty South" are good albums to start with. The latest album(Brighter Than Creation's Dark) is solid, but not quite as rocking.
Here's a link of a live show from 2004, which includes a cover of "Ain't Talkin' About Love".

| You couldn't be more right. Saw them in Toronto last night. One of the best shows I ever saw. Played forever and the encore was about 40 minutes long. Their sound was a lot heavier than their latest album but both are good. And the tickets were only $18.50. If any of you get the chance to see these guys do it. You have to see them live to really appreciate them. |

Those guys are from my neck of the woods here in North Alabama. Pat Hood (the lead singer) is the son of the founder of the Muscle Shoals Studio, which is where Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded their first album. I grew up with his sister here in Florence.
I suggest the album "The Dirty South" by the Drive By Truckers. The lyrics are written about St. Florian, Florence, Killen, and local North Alabama culture. It is a very good cd. |

| The truth is that even the twangy stuff is good. But their harder material is amazing. They are the best new band (to me) I've heard in a long, long time. I can't say enough good things about them. |

Awesome show(Again)! Almost 3 hours of gritty nirvana(the feeling not the band). There's an instore from Virginia on Dime if anyone is interested.

Also -- there are a couple of AUD-shot videos/DVDs on The Traders Den, right now ... one from 2005, one from 2006. Full shows. Both look good.
They are a great great band, yes.
