Does anyone know of a program (preferably a free one) to use to rip the audio off of a DVD to convert into an audio CD?

I'm assuming this is possible but just not sure how to do it.

Thanks

I occasionally use, DVD Audio Extractor, but most often I use DVD Decrypter to rip, Smartripper to demux and then HeAche to convert the AC3 to WAV, PCM can skipp this step. It may seem like a lot but all the programs are freeware and it isn't that bad to do. Plus that way I know I'm not missing anything in the conversion (I don't trust some programs).

I use Roxio EMC9. It isn't a free program but it will rip the audio from dvd's into .wav format. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the program because of it's many conflicts with other programs as well as earlier versions of itself but once the bugs are worked out and you know how to use it it is pretty useful. There is also a program that will record anything coming through your soundcard. That means you can record streaming music also.

I have a program that does that called Cakewalk Pyro that I got back in 2003, but I am sure that there are other programs that do this very thing. The only hitch is that you can't do anything else on the computer that makes noise or that will be recorded too.

I just record it straight to my computer from the dvd player using line in recording from 'audiograbber' then use 'wave splitter' to make the breaks where I want.
Granted..this is in real time and I'm not sure how 'programs' to do it from the computer work because I have never used them. I just do it for me anyway.
I haven't done a audio disc in forever though so I am not sure what program I use to burn the audio..but any works with both above programs because you are just saving the files to the computer.

Sound like you are recording via the soundcard which is not the best way but if it works for ya :thumb:
http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-audio-ripper.html <- That's the one I occasionally use not DVD Audio Extractor. but like I said usually the thing I do is rip the DVD, demux, convert and burn. The way I look at it is, the zeros and ones are all there. USE THEM! Plus I don't need to be concerned about my soundcard, is my soundcard the best, the worse, who cares, I'm not using it. I take the ones and zeros and moves them from the DVD and put them to CD. To me it is the best way. The IMToo program has worked fine in the past but I'm not 100 percent certain what exactly it is doing and I'm a little leary which is why I prefer to work with the raw information.

Free.......I tried this and it restricts you in all kinds of ways. Am I missing something or is this the ploy to get me to buy the $29.00 version. I am all for paying but I would like full access to the program for the trial period to make sure it fits my needs. Maybe I am doing something wrong here but it only rips the first 5 minutes of the DVD.

Have I done something wrong......Kinda bitter.
