New Van Halen Album Rumor

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was posted by "eddievh2005" over at www.eddievanhalen.com/evh/

Take it for what it is, it's just a rumor AND the source is Wikipedia... Sure would be cool though! It's different (from most of the other rumors) in that VH isn't working on any new material, but reworking some old unreleased stuff. Anyways here it is:

"NEW ALBUM TO FOLLOW 2008 TOUR
from WIKIPEDIA WEBSITE FOR VAN HALEN
In addition to being recognized for quality and success, the band is known for the drama surrounding the exits of former members. The (multiple) exits of singers Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth were surrounded in controversy and mass press coverage with various contrasting press statements between them and the band. More recently, founding bassist Michael Anthony was kicked out of the band for controversial reasons. Following their 2004 concert tour the band was on a hiatus from the public until September 2006, new bassist Wolfgang Van Halen's place was confirmed and Roth-reunion rumours began to re-surface coinciding with the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on March 12, 2007.[5] After years of speculation, Van Halen began a tour with Roth in late 2007 across North America, which has been extended into early 2008. An album is proposed to follow.[6]
Now as we grow near the end of the tour in summer 08 roumers are starting to circulate that from their first meeting in late 2006 the band has been working on multiple leftover songs from vh-dlr band ideas for a proposed new VH IV album due out in late 08-early 09 with an extension to europe in 08-back on the road in us to support the new album in summer 09.

That's "news" from last August where:

Roth, 52, spoke virtually nonstop at the press event, promising that the band's upcoming 25-date North American trek was merely the precursor to a world tour and to a new album.

You know what, last week-end i was watching a V-H 2007 dvd and for the first time it felt like the good ol'time,i mean"the mighty van halen".When i heard that V-H was back with Roth it was one of the best days in my life. Then i saw some boot before the band came to montreal and i had a hard time getting back into it even when i saw them live in montreal. But last saturday the feeling was back, maybe i was in the mood i dont know but it felt good.I've got nothing against Wolfie, the kid is great but i miss Mike anthony.I've always been CVH fan.Don't get me wrong i'm the happiest guy in the world with this reunion,it's like when Sammy came aboard it was hard for me but the time did is thing and everything was cool.Anyway an album would be killer.I truly hope they will stick together for a long long time.

Just imagine...during this time off, they get in the studio and record just one single for release. Maybe "She's the Woman" or "Big Trouble"--something from the early days that was never released. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

To do those songs now would be a disservice to the originals in my opinion.

How about the songs they worked on in 2000 that got shelved? I know they have some material they could put out.

I can't see them being able to get along in a studio enough to make magic

But they were never released! To 99.9% of the public, they don't even exist.

If VH wants to remain a band and not a novelty act that plays songs from your childhood, they need to release a new album. As mentioned, they can dust off the handful of tunes from 2000 and keep on trucking.

They should use all of their old unreleased songs from the club days and I think everybody would be happy.
