I just recently made the switch to a Mac, after using PCs for about 20 years. I still have access to my "work" computer, so I can rip, burn, convert, trade, etc, using all of the PC-based utilities I've been using for a while now (Nero, burrrn, Trader's Little helper, utorrent, etc...)
Ideally, I'd prefer to do everything on my Mac, because it really is a sweet notebook computer, and I'd like to just leave my work notebook at work. Does anyone have experience in converting their trading methods and software from PC to Mac? If so, I'd like to hear about which software/freeware you've come to rely on. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

I love my mac madly but still use my PC for trading - these links to OSX software (all free) may be of use
Burn for making discs http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net
xACT for FLAC encode/decode http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21952
Cog for playing FLACs http://cogx.org/ |

Mac must-haves:
Roxio Toast - for burning/copying/playing FLACs
Mac The Ripper - for ripping encrypted DVDs
xAct - for encoding/decoding FLACs
MPEG Streamclip - for ripping/converting DVD files
Flip4Mac - for opening/converting Windows Media files in QuickTime
Perian - for opeing/converting FLash videos in QuickTime
Acquisition - peer-to-peer file sharing
BitTorrent - for torrenting
That's all I can think of for now... |

I use XLD or Toast to decode FLACs. Both have more output options then xAct. |
