Hey there are 100ct. Maxell dvd-r or dvd+r on sale at Office Depot for $19.99. Not bad...sorry not the Made in Japan ones though...but not bad non the less...

I think blank dvds are getting cheaper. In fact , they are getting to cost almost as much as blank cds.... :)

Getting harder to find those Made in Japan Maxell DVDs here as well. Now on occasion Wal Mart will still get them in. Funny though the -R will be Made in Japan but the +r aren't!!!!! Here in Winnipeg blank CDs are more to buy than blank DVDs.

I don't know if it would be cheaper...but I think that is a pretty good price. There is a way to get them a buck cheaper. Take the ad to COMP USA and price match with them. They will knock off a $1 off the advertised price. ( Only thing I am not sure COMP USA sells Maxells though ) I know I did that a couple of times with another brand there.

If you can find a CompUSA. They've closed a bunch of their stores (competition).

I've never been a big fan of Maxell disks. It's amazing how shitty of a product they put out considering they have (had?) a well respected brand name. Memorex isn't much better. Something about those companies that begin with the letter "M."

Hmmm......strange that I've had great luck with Maxell discs but horrible luck with Memorex. Might be something to do with each individuals burner, software and setup (burning speed) as well? :confused:

I think the name Maxell name was so strong in the cassette days and people assume that the same quality carried over to the CD/DVD media. I know when I first started trading in '98 (CDR's) a lot of traders went straight to the Maxell brands.

I've never had problems with either Maxell or Memorex. I just did a trade and the guy made a point to only get certain brands of DVD-Rs. I have used Fuji, Memorex, Verbatim and Sony for the past couple years and I have never had a problem. I did make the mistake early on buying the "bulk" packs on eBay and I lost about 250 DVDs in the past year due to the discs degrading. I have Memorex DVDs that I burned a couple years ago that still work great and I haven't burned a coaster in years.

I also bought a terabyte WD MyBook back up hard drive, so if my DVDs do fail, I can make another DVD. These things are great!

Costco will be having a two for one sale(200 DVD packs for the price of 100)on TDK from July 2nd to July 8th in Canada and perhaps the US also.You need a coupon but I know that here in Quebec City they will give you a coupon at the cash register if you don't have one.
I have been using many types of blank DVD'S throughout the years and must have been trouble free.TDK and Maxell have always served me good in the past with ordinary cassettes,VHS and etc. I remember Memorex wasn't so hot with virgin cassette recordings back then,the were ok at best.I am aware that DVD'S aren't cassettes but some companies always carry quality to whatever product they make!
