As much as I hate it when someone or something fucks up a video shoot I'm doing at a show, I have to admit...if a juicy set of bouncing titties is the culprit...I might not get quite as mad as I otherwise would have. :thumb:

Something I'd like to mention ~

Folks,

I had no idea people would get all excited about this show ~ but it's great to see.

But I have to say, that upload to megaupload is the only clip I've mixed from this. I just got a third angle, and a fourth is on the way (none of the four are complete BTW). These are all digital camera clips.

Note: there are some very tricky aspects involved with mixing digital camera clips and authoring them to DVD:

1) they are almost never 720 X 480 (typically they are 640 X 480)
2) when you start getting a bunch of them, sometimes not all of them are even 640 X 480
3) the speeds at which these cameras record vary widely - I have yet to find a clip that synchs perfectly with an audio only recording without first adjusting the audio, or two different cameras (make/model) that record at the same speed

With one video angle and one audio recording - they're easy to synch - just adjust the audio to match the video and you're all set. But now that there are four - which all run at different speeds - what do you do? For all practical purposes, adjusting the speeds of the video clips isn't an option. So you have to juggle all those clips with their varying speeds and somehow get them all to synch perfectly. Suffice it to say, it's a bitch. But through many nights...weeks...months...and years of trial and error, I've taught myself various tricks that get the job done. But as I said, this isn't like mixing four angles filmed with digital video cameras (all of which run at almost the exact same speed) - this is a whole other ballgame. So don't be looking for this in the next few days...or maybe even the next few weeks. I don't think it's going to hit the VHT torrent tracker until sometime in August.

Quick update ~ this is how this project is shaping up:

red = missing video
running time: 85 minutes
1. You Really Got Me
2. I'm the One
3. Runnin' With The Devil
4. Romeo Delight
Somebody Get Me A Doctor
5. Beautiful Girls
6. Dance The Night Away
7. Atomic Punk
8. Everybody Wants Some
So This Is Love?
Mean Street
(Oh) Pretty Woman
Al's drum solo
9. Unchained
10. I'll Wait
11. And the Cradle Will Rock...
12. Hot For Teacher
Little Dreamer
13. Jamie's Cryin'
Ice Cream Man
14. Panama
15. Ed's guitar solo
16. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
17. 1984
18. Jump

I'm probably going to put this on one disk. If it doesn't look good, I'll change to two disks, but I don't foresee any problems with putting it all on one disk.

There are several spots where I will have to use some concert pics to make up for sections of missing video - nothing major though - usually between songs. I've smoothed over the transitions where video is missing ~ but almost everyone knows the setlist by heart now, so you'll probably be able to tell right away anyway.

I am mixing in the audio from Vandiego Dave's camera (at a reduced volume) with Steecoe's audio. This probably sounds like a strange idea at first. But in spite of it being really tinny and bright, it makes for a nice mix and allows you to hear the lead guitar and vocals much better IMO. There are some spots where Vandiego Dave video is missing, and of course, the audio is also missing. I didn't try to compensate in these spots - so it's just Steecoe's audio. You'll notice a difference in the sound in these spots - but I don't think it's annoying - just a little different sounding.

Most of the video is from Vandiego Dave, with some additional snippets here and there from danman08 and Hedges1018 (found Hedges1018 on youtube and he sent me some very high quality clips).

This show reminds me a lot of the Grand Rapids show that I went to (the next show after this one). Dave is loose as a goose and the band just has a great time.
