VAN HALEN canceled a concert in Hamburg, Germany after a chunk of ceiling plaster fell on drummer ALEX VAN HALEN'S arm during sound check.

And because of that incident they couldn't play at the Bospop festival (Netherlands) also...I allready bougt the tickets...it still pisses me off, I saw them in '93 but to this day I believe Ed was at his peak (not inspirational but technically) in 1998.
The Bospop festival is a very enjoyable festival, I believe max. 10.000 people and always a very relaxed mood over there, this year they have Ted Nugent, Neil Young, Europe, Santana, Steve Lukather and many others...offcourse I'm going but damn, VH III...

I had tickets for the Birmingham show.... they were right at the front too.... arrrgghhhhh!!!!! Back in 98 I heard rumours that Alex's injury was actually not that bad and they used it as an excuse to cancel the shows which were selling poorly anyway. Dunno if there was any truth in that or not? Either way it meant that I've gone 13 years (and still waiting) without seeing the band. Having Wolfie in the band is far from ideal IMO but it would still be nice if they could hold things together long enough to visit the world outside North America.

At the end of August of that year, Al was still wearing a brace on his arm from the accident.

I flew from Ireland over to England to catch the Wembely arena concert but it was cancelled. Needless to say I was sickened. We had tickets for the second row. I have only seen them once in 1995 in Wembely stadium and it was brilliant but I was to far back, so in 1998 I thought I would have the opportunity to see Eddie playing up close. NEVER HAPPENED.

Why do they never come to Europe? and even more so Ireland.
Why has Sammy never done a European tour since 1995?

Man....I had tickets for three of those shows. All got cancelled. So I missed out on a change to hear the old tunes sung by Gary.
The last time they played Holland was in 95 (only an hour in support of Bon Jovi) in the pouring rain.

So I can't wait to see them come back oveseas again and kick some ass.
