I used the moderator's "thread splitting" function to create a new thread to un-hijack the "VH LARGO 80/81/82/84" thread ~ Randy

a lot of times the band don't have a clue who is shooting a video, for example there is a skynyrd from va that got out from someone who worked at the venue, there is a racer x from hollywood that was shot ,i wish i could find, i saw the video it was great ,the guy who shot it was from washington i would like to get a copy it stops during the middle of a cover of train kept rolling

I know of a San Francisco 1988 video of Racer X but never heard of the Hollywood 86.

I've got a Racer X show here labeled as - Los Angeles, CA - 1986 - 1 Cam Pro. It's PC too.

I'll dig it out and post some screen shots if anyone want to check them out...

I just checked out my copy and it's also looking a little tired. I thought it was better than this. I must of been thinking of the '88 show. Its not bad, but it's not great. You're welcome to a copy if you want one.

I got a very nice copy of a Racer X show from ChrisUK and I authored it to DVD. I could be wrong (because I've got around three or so Racer X shows from this era), but I think these screenshots are the same show I got from ChrisUK - except he said it's from 1988.

If it's the same show, the copy I got from ChrisUK is much better quality (probably a 1st gen).

I don't have access to my DVD collection or authoring notes, so I can't say for sure though. I don't keep my online list up to date either, so that's not much help. I do have one Racer X show listed (that I authored):

1986-09-05
Venue: Country Club, LA
Media: DVD
Number: 1
Source: audience handheld 1st gen? > stand alone
Quality: A-

Setlist:
Loud and Clear
Hotter Than Fire
?
Heart Of A Lion
Drum Solo
Hammer Away
Scarified
Bass Solo
Getaway
Dangerous Love
You've Gone Too Far
Bruce Solo
Detroit Rock City

ChrisUK ~ if you happen to see this, please give that disk I sent back to you a look and see how it compares ~ thanx.

Hi Randy,

The disc that we worked on is definitely from 88 not 86 as it has songs from the Second Heat LP from the same year. I've also seen LA 86 listed but I've never actually seen that footage. My 88 footage definitely looks lower gen than the screen shots of LA 86 and it is defintely a different gig. I've never known the lineage but it looks like 1st gen. My original source for the 88 footage was an unauthored/unchaptered DVD Yerfdog sent me in a trade about 4 years ago. I did an analogue recapture and tweaked the video levels, black levels and re-graphiced the audio (the original had no bass end at all) in the process. I have the date as 2/4/88 (American date order). Its sourced from in house cameras fed through a vision mixer plus mixing desk audio. For the first few songs there appears to be no one vision mixing as all we get is a single cam wide shot, but later on the other cameras get introduced.

I really like this footage, it shows the band at their peak IMO, just before Gilbert left for Mr Big.

If anyone needs a copy to spread around (seeing as Randys discs are all locked away somewhere) let me know.

Chris.
