Is there a way to put a flac file on a CD? I ask this because I don't currently have a dvd burner, but I plan on getting one soon. Thanks,
Cody |

dBpoweramp Music Converter:

Very simple to use. It will convert Flac's to wav, and then you can use whatever burning program you have to burn to CD. |

To preserve the integrity of the recording, it's always best to trade in the original format. |

CD (80 min) - 700 MB of open space
DVD - Most blank DVDs can hold up to 4.4 GB of data. Although, most of the package labels will say 4.7 GB. |

| I use DVDs to archive the flacs so buy good quality media. I burn to audio CDs , whatever is going cheap - I think of the audio as dispensible as I should have the flacs nice and safe. Many people buy external hard drives also to archive their flacs and to allow simple re-seeds of torrents. |

You can just burn the flac's as data for archiving if that is what you meant. You won't fit as much on a cd as a dvd. If you meant converting it and then burning it, ignore me and follow everybody's great advice. |

FLAC and WAV are basically the same thing since FLAC is lossless and WAV is lossless. I agree things should be kept in their original state (i.e. FLAC should remain FLAC and SHN should remain SHN) but as long as there are no errors in converting FLAC to WAV you should be able to trade the WAV the same as you would FLAC. I think most people prefer getting the original FLAC or SHN files since they can verify the file integrity but there should be no problem burning the WAV files to an Audio CDR and trading the Audio CDR.
To burn FLAC to CDR just burn as data. To burn WAVs to CDR burn as audio without two second gaps. |
