They are using Master Tracks for the next release of (?), so why would they go back to cover tracks?

Their management has this to say:

Clients including Van Halen, the Eagles, Steely Dan and Guns N' Roses "all have deals of varying types in the works with one or the other or both of these companies," says Mr. Azoff, referring to the makers of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

No where in that article, or any other that I've read on the subject, mentions anything about using the original studio master tracks. Plenty of songs on Guitar Hero/Rock Band are classics performed by cover bands. It's much easier to work with newly recorded digital files then it is to work with analog.

Alright, so how about this quote about Guitar Hero IV?

Four bands have been confirmed thus far for the game--Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime--with Neversoft noting that all songs within the game will be master tracks provided by record labels.

OK... that's for GH4 - but not the VH edition. I guess we'll wait and see, but I say get ready for the songs to be performed by a cover band.

Yep, that's what I said. Punch "GH4" into the "(?)" section of my post above.

I was just too lazy at the time to look up which release was gonna have the master tracks in it.

What's "No" about it? That group (band) certainly looked like they were playing Guitar Hero: World Tour to me...

The rumor mill for Guitar Hero: World Tour is that it will contain the following VH:

Eruption Tour:
"Beat it" by Micheal Jackson Feat. Eddie Van Halen
