That is certainly sad news.

I will always remember him for being "east bound and down..."

This is sad news. Jerry was an amazing country guitarist. His early 70's work with Chet Atkins
is a goldmine for fingerpickers.

RIP.

Though I loved him as "The Snowman" in the Smokey series, I always hated that it ended up overshadowing his guitar skills. I was very sad to hear this news.

RIP

Man I saw him in Milw in like 1980 and he totally ripped on the Telecaster - a master of the whole speed chickenpickin' thang.

And I agree it's a shame his "acting" overshadowed his guitar skills.

RIP

One of my favorites... sad to see him go :(

At least he's not suffering with emphysema anymore.

For those that are too young or who have never heard of him, check out videos on youtube of him playing Jerry's Breakdown, or the Claw, or any number of others.

One of my favorites is Papa's Knee, a pop song that he makes totally his own. And that playing....

RIP Jerry....

Also his work with Elvis in the late 60's is incredible!
US Male alone is worth listening to for his "chickin' pickin' " style
