You could also include just about all of OU812 in there as well as the majority of the Van Hagar catalog - but OU812 is just a stand-out to me. It's mostly terrible.

has anyone ever listened to Ian Gillans lyrics? Listen to Smoke on the Water. I'm really surprised it didn't make the list. Or what about that god awful Black Eyed Peas song? Hump I think it's called? Blech

I'm not a van-hagar era fan but to me there are some very good lyrics especially in "Mine all mine" and some others.

I really don't listen to Van Halen just for the lyrics. Most rock songs aren't that deep when it comes to substance.
