I brought this idea to the Mods in Oct '07 and made a suggestion to them that maybe we can open the torrents up and not only make it Van Halen/ Van Halen related only but also allow torrents from other artists and bands as long as they were filmed, recorded or authored by members here.

At that time the Van Halen tour was about to start so we decided to hold off on the idea to maybe after the tour ends. Now that the tour is no more (For now?) I brought this idea out again to the Mods and seeveral members here to see if they like the idea. So we decided to give it a shot to see how things go and maybe this will bring in more material for torrents and with more interest it will bring in more people to get involved and make it easier for members to raise their ratio's.

We also decided to change the requirements on the Torrents to discourage post boosters and to prevent the hit and run members who are here for the torrents only and only seen or heard of on the next torrent.

Remember this will only be a test for a couple of months to see how things go and if it gets more people involved and more shows will be shared it's all gravy.. If it doesn't then we will just go back to original way how the torrents are being done now.

We have a bunch of members who have filmed, recorded or authored material from other bands or artists but decide to go elsewhere to share this stuff cause of this being a VH or VH related torrents.. What if these members offer the material here 1st for the members of VHTrading! This way members here will get 1st crack at it and when it gets torrented at another site afterwards members here can go help seed there to help with their ratio's there.

I did this with the VH Largo '82 and went to one torrent at a time and you will be surprised what an army I had of fellow members helping me seed the show.

So for now we will offer torrents here of audio or video of Van Halen, Van Halen related, or any other artists or band. The only thing is the other artists and bands has to be filmed, recorded or authored by a member here at VHTrading.

The requirements will basically stay the same except for now on:

1. You must have 30 posts (Not BS Posts too) and been here for 3 months or more in order to be added to torrent group.
This will help with the new members post boosting thinking once the hit 30 they are in the torrent group... Remember even if you make the requirements your not automatically in cause I still have to physicaly add the member to the torrent group.

2. You must be active on the site to maintain your torrent priveledges.
You can do that by posting, sharing with members who can't torrent, helping with tree's, etc... There is no way to really define what it means to be active but you can't just show up for a torrent and not be seen again or heard of again until the next torrent.. I'm not talking about saying thank you or asking for artwork on each torrent cause that doesn't count.

I have removed members from the torrent group cause we wouldn't see or hear from them until the next torrent.

I'm hoping with the new torrents and opening up what we offer here for torrents it will get more people involved.

The idea is to have shows offered here first from our own members before it gets offered somewhere else or have exclusive material only offered here for VHT members.

With more people involved it will help with members ratio's too. I know it can be fustrating where you want to raise your ratio's when you help seedbut there isn't enough leechers. I'm hoping this will help!

This will be a test for 2 months and lets see how things go.

As of July 8th, 2008 these will go in effect for a trial of 2 months:
Members are allowed to torrent audo/video of other artists or bands as long as they were filmed, recorded or authored by a member here.
30 posts and 3 months to be added to torrent group.
You must be an active member on VHT.
