Could someone direct me to a discussion on FLAC and how to convert them? Thanks.

I don't know if there is any specific discussion thread on the topic ...

There are dozens of ways to do it, three that I have used, FLAC Frontend, Traders Little Helper and dbPowerAmp.

dbPoweramp is probably the easiest cuz when you install it there will be a shortcut placed in your Right-Click menu. When you Right-Click on a FLAC file you simply select Convert to and then select whether you want a WAV file or MP3 or whatever. Then burn the WAV to Audio CDR or copy the MP3 to your MP3 player.

Traders Little Helper is probaly my favorite since you can not only encode/decode FLAC/SHN or whatever but you can also create and verify MD5 and Fingerprints. TLH has a whole lot more going on.

FLAC Frontend is probably the original but not my favorite anymore. It can be a little confusing for the first time use.

Those are my opinions and input but your mileage will vary.

I'd also recommend Traders Little Helper - it's very simple to use and versatile

agree with all that's been said but I would also add
alot of traders like to trade in flac format (data disc via cd/dvd)
so if you can I would try to archive them in flac format too
