I know a lot of readers won't care, but I thought I'd give a quick review.

I went to see Extreme tonight at Rams Head Live in Baltimore. I actually enjoyed the show a lot more than I anticipated. I arrived about three quarters of the way through Kings X opening set.

They played the songs you'd expect as well as some off of the new album. Nuno looked and played good, Pat did fine, and the new drummer looked kinda goofy with his curly hair and huge porkchop sideburns, but seemed to play pretty well. I was happy to see that Gary seems to be doing good. He looked and sounded great. He's sporting the blondish/orangish short hair still.

There was a pretty big screwup at the beginning of Get the Funk Out where they stopped and pretty much started over (I assume this was a real screwup and not a gimmick at every show). During the screw up, Nuno said something to Gary about, "here, let me play something you recognize" and started playing Ain't Talkin' Bout Love. Gary apologized for the error when they took their bow at the end of the show.

Anyway, I'm glad I went and had a good time. If you're into Extreme, you'll probably want to check this one out.

Thanks for the review Rodney. Sounds like they're keeping a sense of humor.

Hi Rodney,

How crowded was the show? Was it sold out?

I called Rams Head about 2 hours prior to showtime and was told that a few hundred tickets were still available.

We drove down and walked straight up to the ticket window and into the show. It seemed to be quite full, but there was still a little room to squeeze together if need be. We stood about an arms length from the barricade at the left/center stage (Pat's side) and it was pretty tight there.

Definitely wasn't a gimmick. I saw them at Brookhaven Ampitheater 8/1 and they didn't do that. But, Nuno was goofing around the whole night. At one point he was playing the intro to Stairway while singing the theme to Gilligan's Island. He also threw part of Eruption into his solo on one of the Extreme tunes; possibly Get the Funk Out (but I can't remember for sure). Before More Than Words Nuno was giving props to Eddie. He said if it wasn't for him (Eddie) there wouldn't be guys like Nuno. He also went on to tell Gary how he was jealous about him going to play with VH. Then before they started MTW, Gary mentioned something about playing a song that DLR couldn't sing. I personally didn't like that dig but oh well. They sounded great!!! Band was as tight as ever and Nuno was on fire.

BTW - The new drummer is from Nuno's side project Damagods.
