New album news in new Rolling Stone?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wikipedia contains a surprising little nugget of information on it. No idea where it came from so it might be fake but it at least reads professionally written:

"Rolling Stone Magazine (ed. 1061) will feature an update blurb from Alex Van Halen. "It's great, but we've already got the (reunion) out of the way. We can't just keep going out and playing the greatest hits, we've already done that twice in the last year. Dave's comin' up, we got some new stuff we're trying. When we nail it down, that's when we're going back (on tour). I don't think it'll be that long. You never know. Our fans might just get a present next (2009) Christmas

I'm sorry mate...but I have to disagree about the part about this sounding like it's professionally written. And frankly speaking...parts of Al's quote don't make any sense without the context within which it was made. And some parts don't sound anything like something a Van Halen brother would ever say - especially when they haven't been saying anything all tour long.

1. If it were professionally written, there would have a been a closed quotation on the end of Al's quote - but it's missing.

2. And as far as context...just what does "It's great" refer to? What's great? What respectable magazine (yeah....I know RS isn't really all that respectable) would start off a blurb that way without a contextual reference?

3. "We can't just keep going out and playing the greatest hits..." Al Van Halen said this? C'mon......

This smells highly of an amateur attempt at trying to fool all the fools like us who read stuff like this and want to believe it. I am usually quite gullible in this regard...but I'm not buying it this time.

If it is real or fake doesnt really mean squat. The only thing that really matters is when we have a new Album, DVD or Tour. :thumb:

Another inconsistency in the quote is "...we've already got the (reunion) out of the way." What the hell else did Al call it that Rolling Stone would have to paraphrase? This isn't legit. A copy editor would be fired if it was.
