I like this kid, he's honest and humorous about what he doesn't want.
Welcome my friend!

Thanks guys, I'm pretty harmless; I just lean towards the real Van Halen. I never could figure out why Sammy would want to give up a perfectly good solo career for something he had to know would never stand up to the original. It's kind of odd that Van Hagar had more #1 albums, higher charting singles, more Grammy nominations (2 to 1) and sold more albums than the original lineup, yet you don't hear anyone clamoring for a Sammy/Van Halen reunion.
Having said that, 'Right Now' is probably one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard and I was a Sammy fan way back to his Montrose days. I don't think there's ever been a time in my life (much longer than I care to admit) that I have not had a copy of 'Standing Hampton' in my collection. I am a bit put out at Eddie over the whole Micheal Anthony thing. Is it just me, or is Wolfie a bit of a porker?
No, give me Diamond Dave any day... |

Standing Haptom has always been my favorite Sammy album :thumb:
I STILL don't understand why everyone has to pick on Wolfie for what he looks like. How does that effect how he plays? Until Mikey got the boot, wasn't he picked on for being "the fat guy in van halen"? I never understood why that mattered either. As I have said before I bet a million bucks that anyone of the Wolfie bashers would suck off a blind midget goat to go back in time & see Eddie Van Halen play when he was 16.
As for sales & No.1s & such, I have never understood why any bands weakest songs are always the most popular. Jump was a no.1 single & a lame tune (for VH) Same for Right Now--I never understood the hoopla around that song either.
Anyway happy trading & welcome from a fellow VH fan :D |

I just did a quick search through old posts and couldn't find it, but I seem to remember that CVH outsold Van Hagar by a long ways. |

| Can't seem to find sales figures for the Sammy Era so I'll concede that point, but we're also looking at 10 #1 hits vs. 2 and 1 Grammy won vs. 0, so I think we can agree that commercially, Van Hagar was more popular, while critically, it was the Dave Era that was more successful. |
