a trade where the guy sent me something that wasn't what he advertised? A show I received from someone (apparently he never listened to it or checked set lists to make sure it was the show he advertised before trading) was not right. One disc of the 2 disc show was ok but the other wasn't even close.

Plus I received some other shows in the same trade and they all have 2 second gaps in them. I don't know if this guy posts on this board but he is part of the yahoo vh list and the yahoo led zeppelin list.

I sent him an email this morning about fixing this stuff and have not heard back. I realize it is only a few hours later now but he sent a blanket email to the yahoo list (which I received which has the boots he got from me on it!!!!) but did not respond to me to straighten out our deal where I did not get what I expected. I'm not an anal retentive trader but he's got to let people know if there are 2 second gaps and he's got to make sure the shows he says he has are what he has.

I do not want to publicly air this guy out (at least not yet). How much time do I give him to respond to me and should I keep sending him daily e mails until he does? I'm not a psychopath-I just want to get what I am supposed to get in the trade. (Well, maybe a little bit of a psychopath :D ) I do not try to screw anyone and this is the first crummy trade experience I've had.

Thanks.

That's a bummer. He has obviously checked his mail and read your message so I wouldn't give him a very long time, the only legit reason you haven't heard from him is if he is checking his copies, assuming he hasn't listened to them, but he should still let you know something. Sorry about that man, :( I certainly wouldn't call you a psycho for trying to straighten it out. I've been trading for almost a year now and haven't had a really bad deal, guess I've been lucky..........but it does really bother me to see some one get a raw deal, because all traders depend on each other to be up-front.

Hey pauliekcpa!

I've recently experienced all of these issues, however, not all through the same trader.

I've only received one show with 2 second gaps, and I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't mentioned up front before the trade. But hey, I got the show and someday I'll just edit those gaps out.

A couple of shows had some bad skipping or transfer problems. These traders were unaware that their masters had problems prior to the trade, however, both made sure to make things right for me.

And finally I got a show that I expected was from one night and really it was from the second night at the same venue. In this case I just let the trader know so that he could update his records.

When I do a trade, I always burn "disk at once". If I find the master had 2 second gaps or that it had other problems, I let the trader know and then we can work something out. After the discs are burned, I always spot-check them for problems. As far as the show dates and locations are concerned, I do my best to verify that info as well. All that being said, it is still easy to have something "bad" slip through. I've got so many shows now, I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to really sit down to listen and enjoy them.

I guess the point to all this rambling is that what you experienced could happen with even the best of the traders out there. What will distinguish him from the others is how he handles this situation and good communication is always the key. I say give the original e-mail a few days before expecting a response (we're all busy with home life and work). Then, if no reply, try again and wait a few more days. Then, if no reply, be a little more persistant. As far as "airing the guy out", I wouldn't do that until things look completely hopeless.

Just my opinions - hope that helps.

I agree sometimes you just don't have the time as you yourself know to really give it a proper listen
it is entirely possible that he is not aware
some people don't seem to care if it does have the gaps, i agree with you i hate them myself
but at this point I don't have time
to go through and fix all of them
but maybe someday when I'm old & gray....
LOL

give him a little time to respond
I would go so far as to threaten to expose him
here & the mailing list if he still ignores you
just don't let it slide

It is tough to stay on top of it all. I spot check the stuff I burn before it goes out, though.

Thanks for the feedback. I got ahold of him. Looks like we'll get it figured out. No big loss on my part just a pain in the butt as his attitude is "that's how I got them" so he's just passing on shitty 2 second gapped mislabeled boots. He won't last long trading if he continues because there are traders out there who would have already strung him up over something like this!!! I won't trade with him again though as he doesn't seem to eager to straighten all this out. Hey Scott--you can close this one up!! Thanks.

Paul
