4/18/79 - Pacific Coliseum
The 6/30/79 date that some attach to this show is not correct. Someone on another thread pointed out that if you listen to "ATAL," Roth says that the crowd is louder than Oregon was last night or something like that. VH played Portland on 4/17.

Then i guess that would mean that they played in Seattle,WA. Not Vancouver B.C. :sus:

Sportsgrunt,

I have posted this at least 2 other times on other threads. Not all of the dates on Van-halen.com or in the VH encyclopedia are right. If you want specific examples, I am happy to provide them.

The 4/18 date is Vancouver and not seattle. A friend of the guy who taped it posted about it here:

I just got my copy. About 1:48 into track 3 (Runnin With The Devil) There is a nasty skip. Does anybody else have this problem.

F.Y.I.

4-18-79 is not listed on the official Van Halen website's tour history:
http://www.van-halen.com/newsite/1979tour.html

I'm not sure how accurate the information on this website is but the 4-18-1979 date is absent.

6-30-1979 is a Vancouver show and an east to west flight from London to Vancouver is not unusual in that time frame. If they left early the morning of 6-29 they would arrive in Vancouver around noon 6-30.

Howlin Black:

The only problem with that theory is this - iif you listen to "ATAL" on this Vancouver show, Roth says that the crowd is louder than Oregon was last night or something like that. If they played London on the 29th and Vancouver the 30th, why would Roth say that? VH did, however, play Portland on 4/17/79.

And again - a person who knows the taper confirmed the date of 4/18. See the link in the above thread.

Finally, van-halen.com has tour date mistakes. Email Brad, VH's webmaster, and he will tell you that.

Here's my issue, the boots "Light Up The Sky" and "This Is Joe" according to vhboots.com were supposedly Seattle 4/18/79 so obviously someone's wrong. I haven't heard those boots though, so maybe this is the same show as those? Especially since like those, this has the "Story of Joe" on it. However it also has "Atomic Punk" on the end whereas those ones don't, so maybe it's just a more complete source? But then again he mentions Canada in this boot and I can't imagine someone would attribute "Light Up The Sky" and "This Is Joe" to Seattle when Canada is mentioned.
