This isn't really VH related, but, important nonetheless. I've recently recieved emails ( one this morning) which appear to be from eBay about my account being closed.I figured they were bogus because I just listed a snare drum yesterday. :furious:
I also believe I've been ripped off by another "Trader" ...but I'll keep you posted on that in the proper forum. |

| I've gotten an email from "Ebay" before asking to update my log on & password. I deleted it, figuring if it was real I would be promted on next time i log on to e-bay - I never was, so i am sure it was bogus as well. I guess with that information, they would be able to have access to the Paypal account. Now i wished i would have forwarded it to someone to investigate before deleting. |

This is one reason I wish everyone would move to trading disc images or SHN files. Granted you have to have a high speed connection, but its faster... cheaper... and if you get ripped of, you've lost nothing except some bandwidth. It easy to do also, its about has difficult as copying a disc. You just need to know how to set up the trasfer (which can done though Internet Explorer, just like a download). I run an FTP server and would let ppl use it for trading other shows if they wanted. It also solves the problem of ppl using disc brand names you don't like and numerous other things. |

This is a true story guys, no BS.
A few days ago, my mom got an email from PayPal saying they "suspected" a third party had hacked into her account. She had never given out her password or anything, she knows better. Anyway, someone did hack her account. I've got a strong feeling that PayPal (someone on the inside) was involved b/c her password was NEVER given out, she's on a d/u connection, no one has hacked her computer. Either this person works for PayPal, or someone figured out how to hack the account. This person went into her account, deposited $1400 on a bad credit card, they did this after upgrading her account so she could accept credit card payments. Then they used her account to purchase a 3 month car rental in the Phillipines for $1400, the credit card payment was bad, so PayPal tried to take it out of her bank account. She closed the bank account right b4 they were going to take the money out (Paypal said they had already taken it, the bank said they recieved the request right after we closed it).
Needless to say, we've shut down all PayPal accounts, I never had one, I still don't trust that thing. |

Oh yea, another thing that makes me think PayPal may have actually been involved. She had about 80 bucks in the account just sitting there, for over a year I think, she hadn't even logged in. Maybe PayPal thought someone had died
Maybe I'm just paranoid and it was just your run-of-the-mill hacker  |
