I thought I'd ask this since I don't know the answer. What happened to Alex's neck? He's always that neck brace. Seems like he's been wearing it for a long time also. Later Alan

| I thought he only wears it during shows. Didn't it start during the 1995 tour ? |

| '95 sounds right, but I thought he was injured during a concert when a chunk of ceiling tile fell on him... |

The chunk of ceiling falling down, happened on the European leg of the 1998 tour in Germany. The band were soundchecking and literally brought the roof down! Alex was lucky as a bigger chunk fell on his drum kit a few seconds after he moved out the way!
He already had a neck problem at that point, but obviously this just made it worse.
As a consequence of this, VH cancelled all the rest of their European dates and hence I never got to see the VH3 tour in Birmingham :( It strikes me now that I will probably never see VH playing those great early tunes like Romeo Delight, I'm The One, Mean Street etc etc. I just cant see Sammy playing such a cool set as they did when Gary was in the band.
Go on Sam.... prove me wrong please!!!! |

Go on Sam.... prove me wrong please!!!! If I recall correctly, a smaller chunk first landed on Alex's arm (injuring it for a few weeks) before the fatal piece of ceiling fell on his drum kit. We in the States were worrying that it might not have healed by the time the band's major American leg of the tour was supposed to have started in July of '98. Thankfully it did! |
